I'm still slumming it with my PS2. The apex for the NCAA football franchise on that system was the 2006 game and they really haven't put much into it since then. My first version of NCAA football was 2004 and I then bought the next two years' games. 2004 was great, 2005 was a step back (hello to lots of randomly dropped balls) and 2006 was great. The reviews for the subsequent NCAA games on PS2 have said that EA hasn't really made too many changes since the 2006. 2006's premiere (July 2005) was the last time the PS2 was Sony's current system, so this makes sense.

I've been holding out for the PS3 to drop a bit more in price. I don't play enough video games to justify a PS3 by itself, but I could justify spending, say, $100 extra dollars on the PS3 over another Blu-Ray player.
Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

I concur about 2005 and 2006. Randomly dropped balls were the bane of my existence with that game. Wide receiver streaking down the left side, defender 10 yards back, ball hits his hands, drop. Uh... did they replace every receiver in the game with 50/50?

        06 is great.

Junkie, let me know if the defensive pass coverage AI has improved or not.

I'm going to buy mine even though I don't own a game console and haven't since the glory days of NHL'94 on Sega Genesis. I'm doing so for...well, obvious reasons.

What the AI misses in intelligence it makes up for in ability. It's fun watching a linebacker outrun Austin Collie on a deep route from his starting position right behind the linemen.

OK, against my better judgment I went and bought NCAA 10 today. If anyone is looking for a PS3 matchup, let me know.

Was that because Johnson was on the cover?

No, because of my earlier statement about the crappy pass defense AI in the 2009 version. Funny thing about the cover is I didn't even notice who was on it. I forgot it was Johnson.

If you haven't taken off the cellophane or security stickers you can still return it.

I'll probably just get a Sharpie and draw goofy glasses and a mustache on Brina with a little skirt around his waist.
