  • August Half Marathon

So I signed up for a race that looks kind of fun. Here is the description,

We will start about 9:00 or 10:00pm. Slower runners earlier, faster runners later, (you decide exactly when). Awards will be given for the first across the finish line after midnight. No timing devices will be allowed. This way those of us that never win a race have a chance. It will be a full moon and we will have glow necklaces and bracelets. Most people will cross the finish line around midnight, then the after party begins. There will be lots of food and we will have music.

I finally have a realistic shot at winning!

That's a pretty fun idea. I hope no one cheats.

      There will be cheaters.

I ran in a 5k where you named your time before you start and closest to your predicted time wins. I was 8 seconds off and got beat by 2 middle aged women that walked and I saw at least one was wearing a watch.

Does sound like a lot of fun though.

PS, I question the structural integrity of the finish line.

The lawyers here are going to show up at the finish line to take on whoever gets whacked in the head by that thing.

Even without the watch, that clock is so damn big you can probably see it from the starting line. My only explanation for him is that the girl on the left is cute, and he was trying to impress her.

From what I understand, the clock only faces the finished direction.

That's what I figured, but I was hoping nobody would call me on it.

That sounds fun. Who sponsors the race and where is it located?

It is in Mapleton. You run out of Hobble Creek and into Mapleton. The sponsors? I am not sure, here is the link,

This is only the second year they have done it.
