  • As far as uniforms are concerned

I'd argue that the high point of the rivalry occurred in 1997 and 1998:

    1997

    1998

    Although 2001 and 2008 weren't bad

    2008

There are some great photos from 2005-2007, and I'll admit the "updated" oval Y jerseys aren't bad, but the Miami knock-offs for Utah are bad. And BYU's navy blues are pretty bad, even though I included 2001.

I really like the current iteration of BYU uniforms, esp with the Oval Y. The Oval Y should never be replaced again. The NFL Europe look of the Crowton era was an abomination, including the introduction of tan to the overall color scheme.

I still cringe when I see leftover gear from that time period. It should all be burned.

I personally love the Royal Blue with the black trim around the white numbers....but I'm not overly picky either as I like our current uni's as well.

The bibs from 1999 and the Rams-like sleeve designs from 2004 are dreadful, but the oval Y is classic, and I love the simple jersey designs. I'm a sucker for the solid color pants on the road with the white, which is why I love those Ute jerseys from 2001.

Yeah I think that was the 1995 uniforms. I agree those were the best BYU football uniforms.

I really like the all white roady look. I love Texas' road uniforms,, as well as Penn St. on the road. I would also love to see the Cougars and Utes wear their "home colors" for the rivalry game, regardless of game location. I know it will cost the visiting team a timeout per NCAA rules, but as long as the home team is classy enough to burn a timeout right after kickoff to make the timeouts even (see UCLA vs USC 2008) it wouldn't be an issue. I would assume that even the NCAA would accept a petition from the competing schools on rivalry games to make an exception.

BYU's all-whites sucked. 2001 home jersey was best home incarnation ever.

actually, as a result of the SC/UCLA game, the NCAA is considering allowing such a practice for rivalry week games, starting this year. No word on it yet.

I guess they don't want to see coaches throwing out time-outs as a gimmick....it is an open defiance to the NCAA but technically they can do nothing about it, so rather than lose face, they are thinking about allowing both teams to wear home colors.

I was at that game and can say that it was a beautiful sight to see. Both teams' fans really enjoyed seeing it. I think that it would be cool to see the Y/U game take on a similar vibe.

I agree. It would be fun to see both teams in their home uniforms for the rivalry game.

It would be fun to see you not get into fist fights at the rivalry game.

I wouldn't have to fight if you would be a gracious guest.

Triple D would destroy you in a fistfight. Wouldn't even be close.

So, you're saying that when he was running his mouth then sprinted up the steps to the portal when the 14 year old girl two rows in front of us turned and told him to hush was just an act? There was no need for me to defend him and ensure his safety in RES?

After looking at the various iterations of the Ute uniforms, I've come to the conclusion that there is absolutely no way to make that color scheme and logo pleasant to look at. They're all hideous and disgusting. Utes have had black pants, red pants, white pants and even gray pants. They're all ugly. Whether the helmets are sparkly or dull , they're still an eyesore.
