I remember him when I was ingrade school. He must of grew up in hell. At least he did not grow up in the best of circumstances when his family lost there ORe Ida farm in Michigan. Went to dumpster for clothes and slept at least for some time under hay truck. Were able to build a house with sweat equity.

Had siblings run away, Brother got killed as well. Parents divorced when he entered college. Tension in the home. Finally went to live with Sister in St Anthony. At that time I don't think IHSAA transfer rules were as strict could live with nonparent or out of district and play ball as long as you went to the school. Now if you don't live with parents need hardship clause or write a good bs story to the state of why you moved. Or sit out a year. Utah has that problem right now with some seniors.

Did ok in St Anthony could of been qb at Ricks but had no way to pay. Ron Haun said he had talent to be linebacker so he worked at some mill in Rexburg then stretched his muscles in weight room. He did not go on mission. Married shortly after High School. Won awards at Ricks and Outland at BYU.

Was not primetime in the NFL did ok though. I knew people from St Anthony that knew him or of him. Some remember either his wifes parents or maybe his dad and stepmom or vice versa when they went on a mission and seen him.

He I am sure is still a sought out speaker of rags to riches. What is he doing now. Is he a role model or hero? I first started posting on an idahosports and someone from near Rigby thought his prayer he gave at last ricks game was a miracle. Elder Buck prayed that the Viking Ship would sail again. Knew his wild brother.

I seen part of an interview on byutv with him at the Y of I and a more recent legends one. Good person been through a lot wonder if he is a hero or role model. Has kids going to U know.

There are two South Fremont players that played in NFL. Can,t think of one that went to Otegon. Did fireside in NFL. Elder Buck gave game ball to Cougars. I watched a few games with Salmon roommate in that gym. But his alma mater may have been hyped in Senator territory. Down by two kicked field goal. Ruled no good though video seems to make it look like it was good. A few sf fans mad. Now the senators won again tonight. If they beat Emmett or Sugar Salem next week and win state could be similarities to them winning title and Colorado winning nc thanks to 5th down, and Nebraska on illegal kick. Both screwed opponents. Missiouri

And a family in our community when kids started 9th grade are going to sch O 25 miles away in Senator territory so they can be seen by recruiters like. Have two kids. Starting 9th grade can,t stop them though some states out of district students need to start there in 8th grade or before. Du,b reason to go to school just because they have better football program. Egotistical anyway I think.

We had one kid that left Rockland for a higher profile for recruiters. It appears to have worked out well for him and all the lilly-white rural Idaho boys he never got the chance to ensure were pissing blood after games.....ya Dietrich & Carey High, I am looking at you!

I was going to go with my brother to Emmett Goding game but he had to haul a bunch of dairy supplies in van so I watched it online instead. Emmett will be 4a next year. However 39 weeks Blue Devil season will start in that village full of rocks south of American Falls. When the Caribou County Cowboys ended our season in play in game as I was eating at Chuck o Rama thanks to generous booster I was already counting down 43 weeks. Cowboys recovered a few onside kicks and we had more than usual turnovers, fumbles and the like. We're 3rd in coin flip following three way tie for seeding.

Hard to look at how good a team will be based on jr high. But maybe just maybe Panthers will get beat by the Bulldogs in two or three years. And maybe the Panthers will go back to there counterparts in late 80,s where they lost a lot more than they won.

Blue Devils unbeaten in grade school and been years since Jr High lost to 1a div 2 opponent. Lost to Butte who is going to be Div 2 next year. Don,t know if they will do op with Mackay making them d1 or even 2a or both will have there own teams. So a couple of teams out east will be siting home during play in game. Don,t know if Sho Ban will bring back football any time soon or not. I like the play in game myself as more teams get to play.

And just maybe the Rockland police or fire department will get to escort a state championship school bus back in town with plenty of Rockland culinary supplies provided for the boosters.

From your fingers to God's ears! We may be heard from in the next few years but my bet would be on Girls XC or Girls Track. Our hoops team was dismantled by Oakley Saturday evening. Oakley will be a good team in 1A Division 1.

I also think Butte and Mackay will combine in the next few years into one school. Same will happen with North Gem and Grace. Mackay and Butte together would still be 1A but would be Division I. North Gem and Grace together would move up to 2A.

Looking forward to hosting the Blue Devils in Rockland next year, we will be much better. Word on the street is we may have some new blood. We picked up a kid named Reed from Timpview who I was told was the 6th man on the Timpview JV team last year as a soph. His mama grew up in Rockland and apparently the kid wants to go to school up here and my guess is actually get to play as a junior and senior which he might not get that chance at Timpview. Once he gets his 10 practices he will be eligible. Additionally, another former Bulldog is planning to move back here and he has two high school aged boys who were supposedly pretty successful football players in Roseville, CA. So there is some help on the way for both our hoops team this year and our football team for next year. We still need some speed on the boys side. In the 8 man game you absolutely need a gamebreaker.
