for me an' SHW. We don't particularly care if it has GPS, so I'm not sure the Forerunner 305/310XT/405 is exactly what we're looking for. But we do like the sport watch type. Any thoughts?

I have the nike (can't remember the model, sorry, I think it is the triax). It is one of the better watches. Good monitor (though it interferes with my treadmill and my treadmill HR reciever wigs out, but I don't care cause all is stored in the watch). It is a terrible chronograph. I know it is not what you are looking for, since you stated as much, but Costco has the forerunner 305 for $149.99 w/coupon. That is a hell of a deal and I would be remiss if I didn't mention it.

Where do I get this coupon? I don't care if I don't care about GPS - that's an INSANE deal.Originally posted by Coach McGuirk View PostI know it is not what you are looking for, since you stated as much, but Costco has the forerunner 305 for $149.99 w/coupon. That's what I have, and it's a great unit. Definitely worth the $150.Originally posted by Coach McGuirk View PostI know it is not what you are looking for, since you stated as much, but Costco has the forerunner 305 for $149.99 w/coupon. Yeah, I noticed that Costco deal too.
You may not think you care about GPS, but you do--you just don't know it yet. I promise that if you go without it, you'll be upgrading within a year, especially if you're going to do tri's. My 305 is easily my favorite gadget I own of any type. Buy the bike attachment ($10-$20, I think) and use it as your cycle computer too.At least the Big Ten went after a big-time addition in Nebraska; the Pac-10 wanted a game so badly, it added Utah

It's an online only coupon as Costco doesn't stock it in their stores anymore.Originally posted by Coach McGuirk View PostIt comes in the mail to me, but you can ask when you get there."I don't mind giving the church 10% of my earnings, but 50% of my weekend mornings? I think I'm going to pick it up instead of buying a new sensor for my Nike+. Here's the coupon:

I have an Omron monitor and watch that I got for about $30 at drugstore.com. Works great.Originally posted by nikuman View Postfor me an' SHW. It looks like my Garmin 305 is giving up the ghost after 2.5 years of faithful service. It's been fine, and I like the current price ($128) of a new one, but should I consider another? I don't swim, I can't think of any features I want that aren't already on the 305, and I'm not bothered by the slightly bulky size of the 305. Does anyone have a better device that I ought to consider? Despite my reputed vast wealth, I really don't want to spend a bundle.

I think the 305 is still the way to go. I have a 610, and it's nice and spiffy and all that, but I'm not sure the price difference is worth it for a touch screen and ANT+ syncing.
I will say that the gps data in my 610 is more reliable and less likely to get messed up by trees and underpasses than my 305. Plus I can wear it as a watch all the time, which I never do because I don't want to damage it on a day to day basis. So there is that.Awesomeness now has a name. Let me introduce myself.

I thought mine was dying, so I bought another. After some hard resets and clearing of the gps info, it is working like a dream and now the wife and I have one, hooray.Originally posted by PaloAltoCougar View PostIt looks like my Garmin 305 is giving up the ghost after 2.5 years of faithful service. How does one do a hard reset and clear the gps info. As with all appliances, I have tossed the manual. I guess I could go online, but if you have quick instructions, lemme know. Thx.Originally posted by BigPiney View PostI thought mine was dying, so I bought another.
