  • College Football Map

Kind of an interesting little map. Obviously, it isn't meant to be fully accurate-Idaho doesn't even have fans in Moscow, let alone all of Northern ID, and it is hard to believe farmers and immigrants of NoCal are big Kal fans. However, it did make me wonder, has the (relatively) recent success of Utah, expanded its fandom footprint outside SLC?

    That's a great map.

    LOL @ Baylor and USU.

Hard to tell what's going on in Southern Nevada (I presume that is UNLV red, and not a continuation of Utah Crimson) but it is definitely missing a Hawaii bubble. I don't know the history behind the migration, but there is a huge contingent of Rainbow Warrior fans here locally. When Hawaii plays at UNLV, they outnumber the UNLV fans 3 to 1, it seems like.

It they are going to have a Hawaii bubble, they need a BYU bubble as well.

No kidding. If BYU-Hawaii ever did a game at Sam Boyd, that thing would outsell any UNLV game by a mile.

WRT the state of Iowa, the map is spot on.

No way does Fresno St have that many fans, unless they are mostly migrant workers.

I don't think Utah owns all of the populous areas of southern Utah....

They got Nor-Cal wrong. It's all Oregon Ducks country now until you hit Berkeley.

Yes, I do believe Utah's footprint is expanding, and will continue to do so to a point as long as they continue to win. Nothing helps energize your fan base like winning.

Colorado doesn't seem right. When I lived there, it was Buffs, Buffs and more Buffs. then a little Air Force. Never heard about CSU unless a really slow (no) sports day (never).

Were you in the northeast corner of the state?

Just because the map shows 1/5 of the state as Ram fans, doesn't mean that 1/5 of coloradoans are Ram fans. That little corner is probably 1/30 of the population of Colorado.

There is no way that Michigan State has more fans than Michigan.

The map is interesting but fraught with problems.
