  • Putting Siding on the Garage

So the paper siding on my two-car garage--the stuff that was so popular 20-30 years ago--is starting to decay.

I want to replace it with vinyl.

Have any of you tried to do something like this yourself? How much will it cost me to do it myself? How much will a contractor cost?

Siding is easy. The only difficulty will be the height. If the garage is not very tall and doesn't require pump jacks then it would be rather simple to do yourself. Tack your corner pieces and j-channel and then start tacking the vinyl in place working from the bottom up. I am not sure what the going cost is right now but good vinyl guys can knock out a whole home in less than a day. Shoot, there was a Vietnamese guy that could do a home buy himself here in a day.
