Graham Watson said this in her blog about BYU and I agree. I am still trying to tell myself it was a great season, but my head can't get around the what could have been/what should have been thoughts.

How can a 10-2 season feel like such a disappointment?

It feels like a disappointment because we had higher expectations, the expectations were reasonable, and we made it through more than half the season with the goal intact.
The one good thing about 10-2 feeling like a sucky season.....we are finally thinking like the big boys.
For me personally, the worst part about this season is that many of SeattleUte's drug-induced football hallucinations seemed to come awfully close to fruition.Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

Normally this is where I chime in about wacky BYU fan expectations. In this case however, there was good reason to think BYU had a very, very good team. To then get throttled by the other two good teams in the conference was a long way to fall. It is a disappointing. It would have been less disappointing with the same record had those two games be competitive.

I guess it also sucks going 10-2 and finishing third in the MWC also. I think I am just also whining with bowl selections on the horizon and the possibility of playing some lame ass team again. At least our little bowl streak should stay intact."Nobody listens to Turtle."-Turtlesigpic

qUest for perfection. It's hard when the magic coin hysteria gets out of control.
I was optimistic for 10-2. Expected a loss at a then ranked Michigan and then split the other two hard games (byu/tcu). So even at 9-3, I would still have been excited about the bowl game.I intend to live forever.
So far, so good.

I honestly think this team overachieved. 10-2 with our defense is nothing short of a miracle. TCU was not a winnable game. Utah might have been winnable, but I would have considered a win surprising.Just try it once. One beer or one cigarette or one porno movie won't hurt. - Dallin H. Oaks

This is probably a terrible analogy, but I'll go with it. This season for the Cougars reminds me of what the local radio guys here in D.C. said about the return of Joe Gibbs. In Washington D.C., Joe Gibbs can do no wrong and despite the fact that the team was non competitive half the time he was here and got blown out of the playoffs the other two years...the fans largely refuse to blame Gibbs.
In his short tenure as the Cougars head coach, Bronco has reached this status with a good number of the fans. Sizzle calls it the "Bronco Boner." Bronco can really do no wrong with a good majority of the fans and the ones who still find fault want to believe what he is saying and as such overlook the faults. This year, his schtick reached an all time high with the "Quest" and various other mottoes and whatnot.
Another major part of the Cougar fans love for and faith in Bronco was the thought that KW was not a very good coach and that BYU by far got the better of the two coaches. Now that KW has gone 12-0 and has a conference title and is in a BCS bowl and might be here for the long run, some fans don't know what to think. Among other things they are calling him a "one hit wonder" and running class smack.
This season is a major disappointment because the Cougars' rival to the north is 12-0 and where BYU fans believed they'd be at the end of this season."They're good. They've always been good" - David Shaw.
Well, because he thought it was good sport. Because some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.

So, we'll call Surfah's official stance on Bronco "half a stock." (Thanks Jay and Silent Bob)"They're good. They've always been good" - David Shaw.

What about this stat that BYU is 1-20 against ranked teams. When a true genius appears, you can know him by this sign: that all the dunces are in a confederacy against him.
