  • 2,000 Foot Tall Skyscraper in Japan?

Just exactly how much faith do you have in man's ability to put something like this in one of the worst seismic zones on the planet?

I have a lot of faith in modern seismic design. Sure, an earthquake big enough to destroy that tower is possible, but it would also destroy every other building in the city so it's kind of a moot point. Seismic design is really just a probability game.

So while I have very high confidence that the tower will survive all earthquakes during its life, I certainly wouldn't want to be on top during a major event. It will be quite a ride.
