  • Legislature closed last night

and based on what they said they did it was a pretty conservative legislature. Several pictures of Gail Rudzika with a smile would confirm my thoughts.

I am not bothered because I don't care if they can't sell Playboys in Utah County or if they only can teach abstinance in school. I think the laws already on the books are good enough to protect Gays. I don't care if it is hard to get your hands on Liquor.l

All in all I am pretty much OK because the State rules as my religious beliefs do. Some of my non-member brethern gripe and think the dominant relgion has to much influence.

That being said, this is an example of why I don't want the religious right taking over the White House and Congress. I don't want them imposing their religious will on me.

What laws? Can you be more specific?

It is currently legal in most of Utah to fire, refuse to do business with, refuse to rent to, or otherwise discriminate based on sexual orientation. Anti-discrimination laws are brought up every year and then killed in committee before they can even be discussed. This year was no exception.

You get arrested for robbing a gay person just like robbing a non gay person.

        That's an awfully low standard.

I want to know you I am not avoiding you from here on out. I should have started the thread knowing I was leaving to play golf.

We do have a couple of gay guys and one lesbian at the club by the way.

How did Utah politics get so hijacked by Gayle Ruzicka and the Eagle Forum?

One of Gayle's top lieutenants lives up the street from me. Two of her teenage boys are Jeff Spicoli-level potheads, but she's sacrificing all to make sure Soviet style mind control doesn't ruin the State of Utah in the form of common curriculum standards 40 other states helped develop.

God bless the ever vigilante Eagle Forum.

Tyranny of the minority. Eagle Forum is evil.

Only one? What kind of golf club is this, anyway?
Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.

Why is that a low standard? Should the punishment for robbing a gay person be more severe?

No, that's not the point. It has little to do with assessing the adequacy of anti-discrimination laws.

It's my turn to guess: if it's not killing or robbing, maybe it has something to do with firing people just because they're gay?

I sure wish the rest of the state would adopt some anti-discrimination regulations, because here at the University it seems like we have more than our share of lesbians...something to do with them feeling secure that they can't be canned for just being lesbos. I guess that makes them anti-freedom, wanting protection.

I don't have anything against lesbians, but per capita they just don't add to the decor like they should, and the rest of you guys need to share this burden.

So why is Utah considered one off the most gay-friendly states?

Who considers that? That surprises me.

Nobody does. Some publications have designated SLC as one of the "gayest cities in America" due to a vibrant gay community but nobody would consider the state gay friendly.
