  • The unofficial Obama and Romney VP speculation thread

Like most of you, I assume, for the past several weeks I've heard and read rumblings about Obama announcing that Hillary Clinton and Joe Biden will change seats, either on January 20, 2013 (assuming his reelection), or perhaps sooner, prior to the election.

Such a move would probably energize a currently desultory pro-Hillary constituency and, I would think increase significantly Obama's chances for reelection. I think Biden would love to run State, and win or lose in November, it would make Hillary the heiress apparent to the Demo throne come 2016.

I do not currently plan to vote for Obama again, but I think this would be a smart move for him. I'm curious if the board braintrust disagrees.

I think it would be a smart move. Biden does nothing for him while hilary provides some energy to the democratic base that longs for the good old days of Clinton.

I saw a recent poll where Hillary was one of the most admired Americans. If I were BO, I'd make her VP. It would make him extremely difficult to beat. Of course, then Mitt could counter with Condy, but that's for another thread.

If the smartest man selects the smartest person to be his VP, there's no way the GOP wins. None. It might even trigger landslide type coattails.

Biden was picked in 2008 because he was old and looked like he had experience (which was something Obama totally lacked back then). Biden has experience since he's been on capitol hill for over 150 years.

Obama no longer needs Biden to give him some "experience" so I could see Hillary taking the VP slot. However, I wonder if she'd rather just run in 2016 without the baggage of Obama.

I think if she's the veep, it seals BO's victory and propels her to the White House in 2016, barring a complete disaster.

Edit: Didn't BO spurn Hillary b/c of hurt feelings over the nomination process?

Is she no longer considered a polarizing figure?

It may backfire for Great Leader if she is his VP candidate, as it might encourage those who never liked the Clinton political machine to come out in full force to dampen her chances at a run in '16.

Hopefully, the country will make the right choice and not reelect Obamao. This county doesn't need any more of his ineptitude and destructive policies.

Maybe, I honestly don't know why she wasn't his VP although I'd say it has a lot to do with teh concern of a young, inexperienced politician being the P and an older, more experienced politician being the VP. BO probably didn't want to be overshadowed, but who knows?

The media have always adored her, as their darling candidate. Progressives herald her championing of health care reform during her first quadrennial as President.

In the position of Secretary of State, she has garnered statesmanship award so the country is likely to be blessed with twelve more years of a Clinton Presidency. By that time, Chelsea may be ready to take over the family tradition.

In hindsight for those who voted for Obamao, would it have mattered? Obamao was the most unqualified candidate ever and it showed. It may have been better for him to have Mrs. Clinton rather than the buffoon he selected, as there would have been at least one person on the ticket that had a bit of competence.

I'm a lifelong Republican and I long for the good old days of Clinton as well.

Democrats have coalesced against the GOP religious litmus test party, against the anti-gay party and party favoring the needs of the wealthy over the needs of the poor. Outside of a charismatic populist, unless there is a continuation of the economic meltdown, the GOP has no chance.

Wait... Aren't you the same guy that was planning to vote for Herman Cain until a few weeks ago? Not saying I agree or disagree about the experience comment, just trying to keep things honest here.

Unless there is a continuation of the economic meltdown? You do realize that the economy is worse today than when Obamao took office, no?

The situation created by Bush has taken longer than anticipated to address plus the intransigence of Republicans to make the wealthy pay their fair share in addressing budget deficits is continuing the Bush caused meltdown.
