Crowton gone at Maryland

Maryland is in trouble. Edsall has really driven a wedge between the fans and the program and players are leaving there at an alarming rate. Crowton didn't have much to do with their failture this year...those players just didn't want to play for Edsall."They're good. They've always been good" - David Shaw.
Well, because he thought it was good sport. Because some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.

Help me out here, I'm REALLY confused.
I get that some folks aren't all that enamored by Crowton. This really isn't about him leaving/being fired/whatever.
This is where I'm lost.
The guy who went 2-10 last year and is concerned for his job, is going to hire the guy who just went 2-26 over the last three years - and somewhere in the middle there was in the news for getting into a physical altercation with an assistant coach that was serious enough for the police to be involved?
Really? REALLY?
You are concerned about your job, your team, winning, etc...and THAT is who you are looking to hire?
Buh-bye.

that's the truth. Maryland would have done better to hire Crowton than Edsall. Weren't they considering hiring Mike Leach for a little while? I'll laugh if he's successful at Wazzou and has them competitive in a few years. Maryland's AD has no clue.Originally posted by DrumNFeather View PostMaryland is in trouble. Knock it off. This board has enough problems without a dose of middle-age lechery.

I'll bet anything that they hired Locksley for his access to the DC recruiting area and the edge that he could give them there. Locksley was a really excellent recruiter for Illinois and was well know for his DC connections. He was even able to bring is some high level recruits for UNM-of course he couldn't get them to play well, but hey.

I'd like to try some of those.Originally posted by Scorcho View PostI'm sure Mrs. Crowton is a lovely woman, but I bet she can't compete with Mrs. Locksley.

Yup. Maryland is dumb. Firing Fridge was one of the stupidest moves ever. I feel bad for Crowton. Then again, he chose to go there to begin with.Originally posted by DrumNFeather View PostMaryland is in trouble.
