Chris Hill gave the following reason:

“We want to reevaluate our traditions between the third and fourth quarters,” Hill said.

This excuse seems to be UteSpeak for "We are currently trying to decide which 4th quarter tradition we want to steal....USC's 'William Tell Overture/Lighting of the Olympic Cauldron' or Notre Dame's '1812 Overture/Praise to the Coach/Drive Safely joke.'"

The Crazy Lady's response?

“I’m baffled,” she said. “I haven’t heard anything. I’m very curious…it’s a big part of my life.”

I don't necessarily pay attention to her when she's doing her thing, but it's something that the MUSS likes and she really is a Ute fan. It's a shame that the U wants to get rid of her.

I believe her thing is something that is unique and something of which DDD can't accuse Utah of stealing from another school.

He's not aiming to add traditions borrowed from other borrowers. No, what he is aiming for is a way to add more sponsor related activities to bring in money.

This isn't about "tradition" as the good Doctor claims. He's not re-evaluating traditions, he's re-evaluating time during the quarter break and how he can make the most money.

Really, it's a complete dick move to the band and the MUSS. Crazy Lady is a MUSS and band tradition. For whatever reason, they love her.

IMO, the school ought to support the MUSS and the band. They bring more in atmosphere and support than any other segment of the stadium.

Chris Hill dicked over the students in basketball in the 90's. He has a track record of completely disregarding them. Because of this, I don't trust this SOB when it comes to fostering good feelings with the student body or the fan base. He's about maximizing the money.

He'll piss of the MUSS and that will start a bad trend.

I don't love Crazy Lady (I don't hate her, either) but the MUSS and band do and it's THEIR tradition. He should leave it the HELL alone and go back to destroying the basketball program.

You will have to pardon my assumption. When Chris Hill said that the Utes were going to reevaluate their traditions, I just trusted him that they were going to reevaluate their traditions. I am not as connected to the school's finances as you are, apparently.

What sort of revenue generating activities are you envisioning? Why is he doing this now? hasnt revenue always been a factor? Seems like odd timing if what you are saying is accurate. USC doesn't do any revenue spots between 3rd and 4th quarter, neither does Notre Dame. They do the aforementioned songs. As far as I know, playing the William Tell Overture does not generate any direct revenue.

I agree that she is unique. I have also noted that the Pirate ship is unique and a cool idea.

Her time may have come, though. I think more people would enjoy the jiggling antics of "Crazy Co-ed" more than the current iteration. Just my opinion.
