  • I have never seen a James Bond movie

I have probably seen less than 45 minutes in my life of Bond at all on cable/sat while surfing channels on a lazy day. I do not have some kind of badge of honor with this, I have nothing against James Bond I have previously never had the desire to watch them.

However my wife really wants to see Quantum of Solace, and I am planning on taking her this week to see it. My question is this, should I watch another Bond before seeing it? I realize there are different actors and it is not a continuous story line, but would I enjoy the movie more if I have seen one or two of the previous Bonds? If so what would be the 1 or 2 top ones that are must see Bond movies?

Yes. Watch Casino Royale first or you'll miss a lot. Quantum is basically a sequel.

I don't think any others are a requirement, as the style's very different from Casino and this one. I'm not a Bond junkie like some on here are, but I really liked both Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace. The people that haven't liked Quantum seem to be big Bond fans who are a little bugged at the change of direction.
At least the Big Ten went after a big-time addition in Nebraska; the Pac-10 wanted a game so badly, it added Utah

I will just second what ER said. Nothing else is required as Casino Royale is the starting point and birth of James Bond as a 007 agent.

HFN, if you enjoy the Bourne movies, you should enjoy both Casino Royale and QOS.

In all honesty, watching the previous bond movies would be somewhat disappointing, as many of them are awful.

However, the earlier Sean Connery-era Bond movies have some legit classics. Movies like Goldfinger, From Russia With Love, and Dr No are all worth watching.

However, as it has been mentioned, the only one you should see before QOS is Casino.

I stopped regularly watching Bond right around the Timothy Dalton era and saw only 1 of the Pierce B. iterations. They were lame.

I gave the Daniel Craig Bond a shot and was really surprised. I enjoyed it.
