  • Better than advertised Players

For some reason, the coaches are struggling to develop the ones, leave alone the 2s and 3s and walkons. Just because they are underperforming doesnt make them bad; just less than advertised.

Here are the players playing above what I had hoped:
    KVN
Maybe Falslev, if you ignore his performance vs. Utah
    Hoffman
    JJ DiLuigi
    Jordan Pendleton
    Fangupo
Fuga (because I expected him never to recover)

    Playing about what I expected:
    Riley Nelson
    Uona Kaveinga
    Corby Eason

    Underperformers:
    Ross Apo
    Matt Reynolds
    Heaps
    Riley Stephenson
    Brandon Doman
    The canuck WR coach
Ian Dulan (Remember how great he was as a 17 year old freshman?)
McKay jacobsen (Remember how great he was as a freshman?)
    Spencer Hafoka

    Is Dulan even playing?

Not sure if this is a BYU only thread or what, but: Derrick Shelby and Trevor Reilly on the defensive line for the Utes.

Also, I must mention how much John Cullen SUCKS as an offensive lineman for the Utes.

          and for Utah underperformers:

          Harvey Langi
          Cullin (WTF is with him?)
          Hayes

          Utah overperformers:
Every journeyman kicker Utah has ever had, and I include Kaneshiro.

My bad, WAY better, probably the best defensive linemen in the PAC-12.

              Dulan is redshirting.
I think Ben Cahoon has done a nice job.
I had high hopes for both Jacobsen and Hafoka and I agree they have both under performed.
Considering the accolades Braden Hansen has also been terrible.

                Cullen
                Langi
                Bergstrom

                Overperformers

                White
                Murphy
                Moe Lee
                Dres Anderson
                Conroy Black

I don't think you can call Hays an underperformer. He really isn't a D1 QB.

I'm not sure how Tony Bergstrom is an underperformer, he's the anchor of the offensive line.

he's had too many false starts, holds and has given up too many sacks. He's the leader of the o_line, but 2-3 times this year the O-line has played pretty badly.

I'd call Bergstrom a variable player. a few years ago he did horribly against BYU, but against TCU that year, he took out their all american player over and over again. Maybe he just had great coaching for that TCU game.

I wouldn't list Walker as an underperformer. I think he does a good job with MWC level talent.

If you're discussing Fotu as an underperformer based on how he played in 2007, sure, I agree. If you're talking about Fotu as an underperformer based on expectations coming in 2011, then your expectations were wildly out of whack.

Underperformers: Keith McGill was supposed to be a guy who would command the FS spot the moment he arrived on campus in August. But even prior to his injury, he looked lost. Good thing he'll be able to get a medical redshirt.

Overperformers: Griff McNabb, Eric Rowe (he's shown a ton of improvement), Ryan Lacy, Miles Mason, Trevor Reilly

Duh - Utah's been playing day games. Everyone knows vampires lose their powers in the daylight.
