  • The official Utefans toeing the BCS line Thread

Man, these BCS schedules are murder. The step from non-AQ to BCS exposes depth or lack thereof. Even the middle tier of the PAC-12 is better than the top tier of the MWC.

I can't believe how overhyped Boise State is.

WHat do the rest of you Ute fans think?

Very invalid statement since Wynn is out for the season, I bet the Utes go 7-5 or 8-4 if they had Wynn who's at least somewhat competent. You can't make this assesment that teams are going to reload year after year for recruiting classes, this isn't the same Sugar Bowl winning team so your point that if Boise State was in another conference they would be terrible isn't justified.

Boise likely goes undefeated with the Utes schedule atleast until the pac-12 champ game, where they are likely 50/50 against Stanford or Oregon.

Not that I'm a Ute fan, but I think Utah's transition isn't a good case study. Utah has made some recruiting errors (mainly at QB) and that is the difference this season. Of course the defense is going struggle when they are always on the field. Boise could handle all but maybe 3 teams in the PAC. There have been some Non-AQ teams added to the Big East that did well after they joined. The Big East is no PAC but its still AQ. Put a decent QB in Utah's offense and they are a lot better than they are now.

I thought the Utes would do better this year, given who was returning, that USC is on probation and not having to play Stanford and Oregon. But wally is right in that the huge difference is depth. The Utes wouldn't beat TCU or Boise State with their first teams this year, but wouldn't be winless in conference play against the rest of the MWC.

And I'll never call BSU overhyped as long as that team keeps kicking the crap out of Utah.

I am not a Ute fan, but it does not seem like a fair sample this year. Even with Wynn this was the weakest team they have had in several years. Which makes what happened in Provo all the more puzzling and disappointing.

                My guess? It's Chow.

I'd be surprised if Whittingham kept him for long. Kyle is a winner. Chow has won, but is in an enormous rut. I realize the QB situation is sub-par, but the moment I heard Chow was coming, I raised an eyebrow. I think one of the best things about Kyle is the way he gets inside the head of his team and motivates them to new heights. I think Chow has spoiled some of that somehow. That's my hunch.

Depth would be an issue with Boise St. I think they go 9-3 with the Utes schedule.

We'll never know, but Moore is dang good. I think they do better than 9-3 (who on the UofUtah's schedule beats them?), take the PAC 12 South and have a good chance at the BCS Championship or Rose Bowl.

Utah does have a harder schedule this year than they've ever had. It's unfortunate that Wynn was injured and that there is such a huge drop in talent after him.

I was hoping for from more the Utes this year. I was really hoping the Utes would represent non-AQs well. I hope the same for TCU next year, though that'll be more difficult in the Big 12 than it would have been in the Big East. I think Boise is freakishly good, and would be bowl eligible with some breathing room with the Utes' schedule.

The Utes aren't carrying any mid major torch this season. I doubt many people think this. Im not seeing much or any media discussion about the Utes admission being a mistake.

The Utes stink this season. I think everyone agrees. But so do many BCS teams that have been in the BCS since inception. The reason Utah is struggling right now isn't because they dont belong. It is because they have injuries and dropped the ball on recruiting.

Wazzou has stunk since the Ryan Leaf era. And they were basically founding members of the PAC. The Utes are poo this season but they won't be perennial poo.

I used to think BSU was overhyped, but I think they've proven time and again that they're legit. Yes, a WAC/MWC schedule helps, but they are at the very least competitive in every single big-time game they play.

I'm an admirer. Their fans are horrendous, however.
