  • The Official Rankings Thread

Hadn't seen a thread for this yet, so here we go.

    http://espn.go.com/college-football/rankings

Of note: BYU gets votes in both polls this week. TCU, while unranked, also received votes. No team that BYU has played or will play is ranked.

LSU is IMO far and away the best team. I thought Oklahoma had the chops to make a good BCS game against them but I guess not.

I'm not buying Oklahoma State. Stanford still hasn't played anyone, they have 2 games that will prove themselves however. I think Boise will be the first non-AQ team to play in the BCS game.

Have you seen Brandon Weeden play? Guy looks like a possible Hesiman winner if Luck has a bad day or a loss. Won't buy them entirely yet because of their defense, but Weeden and Blackmon are lethal.

        Clemson? Alabama?

It is still a bit early IMO but I agree that LSU is one of the finalists.

I keep thinking the same thing about ok state but they seem to be resilient. Even when down, they stay composed and fight through. That can't be discounted.

I expect Luck to carve up SCs secondary but if he can have a big game against the Zeros then he may be ready for the big stage.

As usual, I am forgetting about Boise. I don't think there is any denying that Boise is a great team, but I think Ute fans would now agree.....if you run roughshod over a crappy conference schedule, you just don't deserve the spot over a team than had to play in a difficult conference week in and week out. It isn't Boises fault, but it isn't the fault of the other undefeated or one loss teams that play in really tough conferences.

The Utes are definitely not doing Boise any favors this year.

So say Clemson and Oklahoma State lose and LSU, Oregon, and Boise win out.

Do we see an LSU-Oregon rematch for the National Championship or let Boise have a shot at LSU? I would personally want to see Boise get a shot. If Stanford or Oklahoma State stay undefeated, then they clearly deserve a shot over Boise. Sorry Boise fans.

It is intellectually dishonest to compare Boise St to this Ute team, this Ute team would be struggling in the MWC right now with this offense. Boise would be favored by a ton over Utah right now, it would not be remotely competitive.

Seriously. I'm not sure this Utes team is better than Boise State (obviously), TCU, San Diego State, and even Air Force.

I realize I have a bias after watching LSU dismantle my Ducks, but I have a hard time seeing anyone beat them. They haven't played with a full compliment of players all season and they just run roughshod over people.

One, im not comparing Boise to this Utah team.

Two, even if I had, I don't see the intellectual dishonesty. It might be a poor comparison but it isn't intellectually dishonest.

I would he very surprised if LSU isnt in the title game, if not winning it all. LSU is definitely there, but as you know better than anyone, sometimes unstoppable teams hit a wall in the title game. I've also seen it happen in person, too.

We will know more in a couple of week when they play the Tide. That will be a fun game.

I'm also not buying Stanford at this point. I'm not exactly sure what they have done, other than schedule well.

Yeah they beat Washington, the same Washington that struggled to wins over Eastern Washington and Hawaii, eeked by Cal all in Seattle. They have been on the road 3 times, were given a victory by Utah with 64 turnovers and have now been blown out twice. What exactly does beating Washington prove? Also how is Luck leading the Heisman race, because he is the best pro prospect? The tree's biggest game of the year and he has 170 yards and 2 TDs?

It will be an epic game. CBS moved it to prime time as well which is rare for them.

The more I think about it the more I think Stanford controls its own destiny. Ok St doesn't have a good enough defense or a good enough running game to win it all. At some point their passing game will have an off day and they lose.

Edit: even though i used it, I hate the "controls their own destiny" cliche. But I'll keep using it.

I was surprised by the move to primetime. This could be completely a lie, but I remember hearing a stat that LSU is something silly like 90-1 in the last 20 years in night games in Baton Rouge. It seems interesting to me, that if that stat is true, that the SEC would move the game to night with it being such a huge advantage for one side.

                              I like Bama's chances.
