I imagine that'll pretty much feel like a national title as far as they're concerned. Of course, with Miami in the top ten on odds, and Oklahoma coming in ahead of Texas, USC, and LSU, there's any number of reasons that list strains credibility.

If I were going to throw $500 away betting on this, I would put $200 on Oklahoma, $200 on USC, $50 on Ohio State then really throw $50 away on Oregon. 2/1 for Florida? Are people in the phallic state really that silly to bet on that line? What horrible odds.

I'm curious why you would bet on Oklahoma over Texas?

SC is not going to win the NC next season, so don't bet on them. Unless you want to bet me, in which case I will take your $200.

Because I think Oklahoma is loaded next year, and history says that Texas probably won't get over on them twice in a row.

I also don't think the B12 is going to be as tough as it was last year, Missouri returns to nothing, Tech takes a step back, Okie State fades under the preseason hype. Couple that with the fact Oklahoma has like 40 guys that are going to be drafted in the NFL next year, seems like the best play.

We were at Spamalot last night, I just read it this morning.

DDD when USC has the best defensive player in the country and 2-3 of the top 5 RBs in the P10 I will go ahead and still be scared of them. My stance on USC is that I will believe they aren't a top 5 team when they prove otherwise.

Actually, history dictates that Texas will. If you bet on the team that won the year before, you win about 70% of the time. The game has always gone in streaks.

Oklahoma is loaded, but so is Texas. The crucial difference between the two -- OU is replacing their entire OL, while UT's is coming into its own. So the two teams will be roughly interchangeable in the easy games, but when it comes to playing the tough games, Texas has a distinct advantage this year. Plus Texas is pissed.

Just play along. Part of the fun of supporting USC is getting to complain that you're having a down year when you only win 11 games and your tenth conference title instead of winning it all.

USC's entire offensive line comes back this year. Combine that with those running backs and I don't see USC skipping too much of a beat.

USC's schedule is pretty tough this year. Ohio State, Cal and Oregon on the road- not to mention a possibly resurgent Notre Dame team.

Oklahoma isn't winning the NC title next year. They have to replace four starters on their offensive line.

Florida is the clear frontrunner with their entire defense coming back as well as Tebow, three offensive linemen and basically all of their skill players except for Harvin. Also, the schedule is favorable. Besides a road game against LSU and a neutral game against Georgia, there isn't much for Florida to worry about.

Texas is next because they bring back 4 starters on their o-line as well as Colt McCoy and most of their skill players. They also have 7 starters coming back on defense.
Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

I am only talking about betting on the odds posted. 2-1 on a season long bet for Florida is horrible money.

They are horrible odds considering that Texas or USC could beat them in a title game- either one could (could- not would) have beaten Florida last year. I think the odds are high because Florida is a very likely partcipant in the title game. Florida can lose a game and still likely make it there due to the perceived strength of the SEC. And if you look at their schedule, they don't have too many nasty games on the road.
