  • Went to see Milk with the wife Wed. night

Give the Best Actor Oscar to Sean Penn right now. That movie was tailor-made to win Academy Awards. I thought the movie was very well-done -- it definitely got a lot of positive reaction from the audience. There was a lot about Proposition 6 of 1978 that would have banned gays from teaching in public schools but failed. Reagan and Carter opposed it. Anybody who sees the movie is going to identify it very strongly with Prop 8 and be pretty pissed off.

There was a pretty eclectic crowd for Houston, too. I felt like I had been teleported to San Francisco.

I like Sean Penn. I am looking forward to seeing it. Thanks for the review.
What's to explain? It's a bunch of people, most of whom you've never met, who are just as likely to be homicidal maniacs as they are to be normal everyday people, with whom you share the minutiae of your everyday life. It's totally normal, and everyone would understand.

Nice. It isn't playing in Saint George, or I would have seen it today. Faith and I will catch it once we get back to LA.

The crowd reminds me of the crowd for Brokeback Mountain. Me teaching schedule allowed me to catch a matinee on the opening day for Brokeback. I have never seen so many crying homosexuals in one place at one time. But Brokeback was truly a great movie. If Ang Lee can produce a handful of Brokeback quality films, I will be able to forgive him for any number of Incredible Hulk disasters.

You obviously have never been to the Ice Capades.

I think Mr. Penn is a great actor. Maybe the best of his generation. I also find him quite obnoxious when acting like himself or whatever persona he wishes to portray to the public.

I won't anything that Penn is in. Nor Alec Baldwin.

It's political for me. My money will not go into the pockets of liberals like them.

              B.S.

No Fast Times at Ridgemont High?

Also, 30 Rock is the best comedy on TV right now.

I haven't watched Fast Times for many, many years and I've never watched a single second of 30 Rock.

You are truly missing out. It is a futile effort anyway.

My not watching won't stop it from airing, but it's one thing I can do for myself.

Perhaps you feel that I'm missing out because you've seen the show and would miss out if you stopped watching.

In the end unless you are giving up on Hollywood all together, then some of your money is ending up where you do not want it.

                      PS you are missing out.

You're correct, but I've paid to see a movie in the theater maybe 3 times in the last 10 years. So I don't directly give money to Hollywood.

                        PS you are missing out.
I'll have to take your word for it, but not so much that I'll tune in.

Do you remember the Phoebe Cates pool scene in Fast Times at Ridgemont High?
