  • Utah Stadium Expansion

in 2-3 years according to tweet from Micheal Rueckart quoting Chris Hill.

Adding more suites and filling in the South End Zone would bring the capacity to around 55K.

    That will be fantastic.

Unless, of course, Hill moves the goalposts once again and it doesn't happen.

55K would be a nice size stadium. It would be easily filled with fans while still maintaining some demand.

Down the road, further expansion would still be possible, if needed. Hopefully it will be.

I think 55K is a workable, realistic number.

I like the idea of 55k. Big, but not overdoing things too quickly. If 55k is sold out before the season even starts for a couple of years then consider an increase.

Filling in the south end zone would block that horrid siberian breeze that blows in behind the scoreboard.

              .

the speculation is that the South End Zone structure would be torn down, and similar seating to the North End Zone would be constructed, along with new locker rooms.

rumored Construction to begin early 2013.

I suppose no word on architectural renderings yet?

I wonder if this was a mandate? Wazzou plays in a tiny house so maybe not.

Can they bang something like this out in one offseason?

                      .

I recall an interview with Hill last summer, when the PAC-12 was in town for the official invite. Hill said when he and Scott were on a tour of RES, Scott was asking about capacity and expansion plans.

I'm not sure it was a mandate, probably more like a strong suggestion.

Not superior just letting you know where there is a good audience for outdated attendance smack. I also suggest using the phrase Rice Empty Stadium that will get a lot of traction.

Attendance smack made more sense when Utah wasn't consistently selling out.
