  • BYU ticket office: Master Mahan

So single game tix go on sale in about 15 mins for Legacy members. I'm not a legacy but my FIL is.

I go to the BYU tix website and they have posted the deets for single game tix.

It appears that BYU has turned towards secret combinations and craftiness. In order to buy tix to the Utah game, you have to purchase an equal amount of tickets to TWO of the following crappy games: Idaho, Idaho state, new Mexico state, San Jose state.

I will have to take a big pass on that, thanks. I'd rather pay a premium for Utah tickets and then roll up to The stadium on game day for the rest of the season and purchase tix for 10 bucks each.

Say there's a $80 premium on each Utah ticket from scalpers etc.

Buying 2 crappy game tickets cost about $11.34 each (face). So $23 worth of crappy game tix gives you the ability to pay face for the Utah game. You take the crappy tickets and donate them to the Boys Club and deduct the donation. Or when out of town relatives ask for BYU tickets, you give them the Crappy tickets. Still ahead.

You think there will be a $80 buck premium on a Utah ticket that costs originally $23?

Tix today for Utah are going for $60 EZ, $80-95 goaline/sideline.

The other games range in face but are priced as follows:

            $25 EZ
            $40 sideline bench
            $50 sideline bleachers w/seatback
            $85 sideline chairs

So buying Utah tix with the mandatory two extra games would be a no muy bien idea.

Ouch. This is not the mark of an elite program. Oklahoma State does **** like that, too. They can't sell enough tickets to their home games, so they won't sell singles to the OU game - you have to buy an entire Aggies season ticket to get one.

Are you talking OSU or aTm? Or did the Cowboys turn into Aggies and I missed the memo?

OSU was Oklahoma A&M until the fifties. They're still called Aggies (either proudly or pejoratively depending on the speaker).

My thoughts, as well. From a biz perspective, they are trying to pack the house and also cut their losses, so I get it. but you are right in that it is basically a tacit admission that they are not going to be able to sell tickets otherwise.

I give them a pass because I don't think the school is arguing that this year's home schedule is worth much. They had to throw the next couple of season's together at a moment's notice.

I still don't like it, though. If they continue to win, people will buy tickets to see Idaho State. They will want to be a part of the winning.

I wonder how much of it has to do with almost every game being on the ESPN network. Empty stadium looks bad on national TV.

Lol. I don't want to hear about Utah creatively putting butts in the seats ever again.

Forcing people to buy extra tickets is a lot different than giving them away at Hogi Yogi.

BYU gives tickets away at Hogi Yogi. Utah used some car stereo place to get free tickets.

I agree, one is a great deal more coercive. It's what you do when you can't give them away.
