The timing is bizarre to me. Wait until the day after he's out in front of the press at media day for the upcoming season? Weird."Either evolution or intelligent design can account for the athlete, but neither can account for the sports fan." - Robert Brault
"Once I seen the trades go down and the other guys signed elsewhere," he said, "I knew it was my time now." - Derrick Favors

Why not? North Carolina was running a very dirty program and it is all catching up to them. You might as well try and get out of it the same way Ohio St. did to try and salvage the program.Originally posted by cougjunkie View PostNorth Carolina fires Butch Davis today."Take it to the Bank"

That would be awful news for fans of Sirius/XM College Sports Radio. That guy is awesome on the radio. Somewhere between a train wreck and the most informative show you will ever listen to.Originally posted by Surfah View PostIf I were UNC I'd hire Mike Leach.Get confident, stupid

The crazy thing is that actually think that Rich Rod would do well at UNC. He would be in an environment were football is just something to watch until basketball season starts and there are a ton of recruits that would fit into his system.Originally posted by HuskyFreeNorthwest View PostThat would be awful news for fans of Sirius/XM College Sports Radio. not to mention that he would be recruiting near the same geographical area that he excelled at for WVU. RRod would be a great hire. i hope they go with Leach though... He was into pirates and just seems cool to me.Originally posted by BemidjiCoug View PostThe crazy thing is that actually think that Rich Rod would do well at UNC. Leach would have been a great hire for O coordinator for Utah (way better than Chow). Or even for BYU, although I don't how he would have worked with Bronco.Originally posted by OrangeUte View Postnot to mention that he would be recruiting near the same geographical area that he excelled at for WVU. He co-hosts a show. It is such a great way to pass time. He is funny and informative and doesn't pull any punches, then he will let it sit with dead air for 15 seconds and clear his throat 4 times.Originally posted by Surfah View PostHe has his own show? I didn't know. Now I wish I still had my XM.
The whole channel is awesome during football season. Then you have Paul Finebaum whose show is based out of Alabama and is basically 3 hours of SEC fans calling in
Caller 1 "Your team sucks, and if you want to meet in person I'll kick your ass"
Finebaum "You make a good point. Let's see what Rufus in Georgia thinks"
Caller 2 "If that guy says my team sucks again I will meet him and kick his ass, cause we don't suck. Maybe he doesn't remember when we beat them before"
Finebaum "You make some great points. Also let's remember that football outside the SEC is awful and soft. Next caller.."
It really is train wreck radio.Get confident, stupid

I can't stand Finebaum. I have listened to his show and between he and his callers I'd rather listen to Todd Christensen use big words he doesn't know the meaning of for a couple hours.Originally posted by HuskyFreeNorthwest View PostHe co-hosts a show. I grew addicted to Finebaum during December building up to the NC game last year. It is message board radio, people don't pretend to be civil or politically correct they just name call and point fingers. They all hate each other, but then circle the wagons if anyone challenges their league. I'm sure they all think the Pac 12 is a league full of cripples and aren't afraid to say it.Originally posted by Surfah View PostI can't stand Finebaum. It should be noted that the recent word that the NCAA would accept OSU's self-imposed punishment as sufficient only applies to the tattoos for trinkets fiasco. The use and discounted purchase of cars, the use of university funds to pay for repairs thereof, the cannabis dealing, and all the other accusations have still not been dealt with by the NCAA. If the NCAA finds sufficient evidence to accuse OSU of those things, there could still be serious trouble, especially given their recent history of violations.
But yeah it won't surprise me if OSU gets off with nothing.
