  • I just registered for the Top of Utah Marathon

I've had a hard time getting myself out of bed in the morning to run, so I figured forking over the cash and registering for it now will hopefully give me the extra motivation I need not to hit the snooze button. This will be my first full marathon after running 2 half marathons in 2007. I struggled with tendinitis in my right foot off and on early last year and haven't gotten back to my pre injury running yet.

You are a braver man than I. My wife is probably going to register for St George, but I just can't pull the trigger on committing myself to running that far.

Also I don't see how a husband and wife with kids could really train for a marathon at the same time. There just aren't enough hours during the day that are cool enough to run in during the summer.

My wife and I managed to somehow pull it off last year. It wasn't easy. I was up at about 4:30am every friday to sneak in a long run, up until 16 miles. After that, we had to juggle our Saturday morning schedule to make the 18 and 20 mile runs possible.

We also had two close friends who were training with us. It somewhat helped with the training, as there were a couple of times when my buddy was working on Saturday when I volunteered to have all the kids over to play while the girls went running.

We didn't learn our lesson last year, so we are trying it again this year. Marriage and family therapy counselling to follow.

We'll have a mini-CUF meeting there, I guess. Sea Chicken says he may be running it, and I'm planning on being there as well.

You are nuts. I am thinking that my wife will get this year for a marathon and I will get next year and I will do a 1/2 ironman.

Nah, that only happens when just one of you is running. Sounds like you're both on the same page.

It will certainly be before hand since both of you will be long gone by the time I finish.
