  • Sometimes it's the little things that make you feel good

So the last time I started an exercise program (about 3 years ago), my podiatrist in Dallas had me go to a running shoe store and get some good motion control shoes. By this time they were completely worn out / trashed so I decided it was time to go find some new ones. Looked up a store nearby (Striders in Layton) and went in there expecting to have to pay $100 or more. The model I had is long gone (Brooks Addiction) but they had the new Brooks equivalent (Beast I think) that was $125. Dang! So as I'm trying them on, the gal helping me says just for fun let me go look at the clearance to see if they have some old ones. They had a pair of the same shoes (Brooks Addiction), in my size, for $25! Score!

So we went out to dinner and stil came out ahead.

Awesome, Surfah has some Brooks and they are awesome. They really work for motion control. Good choice. And good find!!! 25$ that is unheard of!

We got Gidget some shoes the other day and I was looking at the clearance rack and saw some Brooks Beast for $50. They were a size 14 though. I rock the GTS 7.

Anyone know what the difference if any between the 7 and 8 are?

I've been moving through the GST models since '06. I went from a 7 to an 8 two weeks before a marathon last year and couldn't tell a difference. I found some 8s on sale for about 50 bucks each on Overstock. I bought two pair. I also have a pair of 9s waiting in the wings.

I've become one of those people that has a stack of brand new running shoes in his closet.

Welcome to the club. It is so nice to be able to pull out a new pair when they ones you are using start failing. Too bad I seem to wait too long.

How long do you usually go? I've been putting about 600 miles per pair. That's probably too long, but I'm cheap.

I'm in Adrenalines. With my GTS 7's I did about 700 miles, which was probably about 100 too many. With my GTS 8's I've got about 400 miles and they feel like they are ready to be retired.

Probably 400-500 miles. I probably could go longer but when I start hurting it is generally time to change. Amazing how good a new pair of shoes feel.

With as many miles as you put in you would have to go a bit longer, otherwise you would be changing shoes every other month.

I also wear Brooks Adrenaline. They have been very comfortable.
