  • Per Jay Drews blog, Collie says he will "definitely" be back next year.....

Will you be back next year?

"Definitely. Well, right now it is not something I am concerned with. Just concerned with getting better and [helping] my team out the best way possible."

Sounds like he was giving himself an out at the end there. As they say in recruiting it sounds like a "soft commitment".

Is Collie in the same situation as Alex Smith was after the '04 season?

Smith couldn't get any better at the college level, so there really was no reason to stay (even if Meyer hadn't bolted).

Can Collie get any better than having some of the best receiving numbers in the country?

I think if they go to a BCS game next year or make another run at one he can get more pub. Essentially BYUs whole offense minus the line comes back. So Collie, Pitta, George, Hall, and Unga. Not to mention hopefully Tonga from suspenion, so next years offense could be even better.

That is a great list of returning skill players. And Collie could have a great year yes, but would BYU need more balance - like the Utes have to get to the BCS?

I have to ask, however, about the O-line. Losing 4 of 5 is not a good thing. Are there 4 unproven guys waiting in the wings?

Actually believe it or not, 4 of the 5 guys returning have all started before.

Matt Reynolds starts now. Terrence Brown started before his mission and redshirted this year. RJ Willing and Garrett Reden both started last year and Willing played a lot this year.

We have the one returning player, Matt Reynolds back. Terrence Brown started in 2005 and got back from a mission earlier this year. A couple of others have see some action if I remember correctly. There will be a drop off but there are players who have some experience to replace this years starters.

There shouldn't be a drop off at all for the Y.

Collie is going to have a helluva pro career assuming he goes to the right team. If he gets named to some all American teams and/or wins some awards this year he should bolt. If not, then return and get a better profile by recreating this year's numbers and go in the 1st or 2nd rounds.

Because of his "non-bcs" status, Collie is a guy who is going to have to (at least in part) prove himself in workouts and at the combine. Whether he does that this year or next probably doesn't matter. Right now I'd peg him as a first day selection...late second or early third. Could another year put him in the first round? Probably not, but it won't hurt him either (unless of course he gets hurt).

Well, because he thought it was good sport. Because some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.

scouts know how good he is, another year will only reconfirm this.
And for the love of dwight schrute, why do they risk him returning kicks?

Most teams have their best playmakers returning kicks.

It's THE reason why Reggie Bush returned kicks in college.

Because he is great at it. He averages 29.9 yards per return. I believe he is still not officially eligible, but among all returners with at least 10 returns, only 8 guys have a better average.

And because if he didn't, we would have lost 48-21 on Saturday.

I for one hope he goes, just so I don't have to see him play against Utah next year. The kid was impressive on Saturday night and it was scary seeing him with the ball. He had the potential to pick up 6 beans everytime he touched the ball.

that chase down of (was it smith?) on one of the picks was impressive too. He juked max and then he instantly appeared to make the tackle.
                              Take the money. please.

i haven't heard about harvey and reed. how are they? reed didn't look good.
