  • Vegas dining locations

Ok it is time for me to get serious. My wife really wanted to go to Las Vegas, Nevada (not New Mexico) for her 30th birthday and see O.

We are going next week and I have 2 nice dinners I need to plan Friday and Saturday night. We are seeing O on Saturday night so I would just like a place at Bellagio, I am thinking about Le Cirque since I saw the documentary about it. Any reviews or thoughts? Other places welcome, my wife doesn't eat fish. Firday is open to anywhere in Vegas for suggestions.

Sunday we will be eating at the Carnegie Deli in the Mirage which she loves.

Saturday may cause my fitday.com account to explode as I will be stuffing myself with DH in the afternoon, then going out with my wife that night.

Le Cirque is very good. It is really expensive, though, so achtung. My FIL gets comps at the Bellagio, so we didn't have to pay full price, fortunately.

Do you like French food? You are going to have to completely suspend any fitday goals if you go in there, but it is worth it.

The Bellagio buffet very good, as far as buffets go, and much less expensive. Admittedly, nowhere near as intimate as the restaurant, though.

I am not sure what to recommend, but we went with the 5-course taster. We tried squab, caviar, Chateaubriand, lobster, and a few other things. Dessert was fun.....profiteroles, chocolates, and grand marnier souffle.

Keep in mind that tasters change frequently (often daily), so don't be spooked by the fish stuff. Also, chefs at these places are usually accommodating, so just let them know that you do not want seafood and they will bring out something else that they are experimenting with in the back. This is usually never a problem.

I will say that very good restaurants are the right places to try foods that you normally do not like, as much of the dislike stems from poor preparation.

That being said, I think caviar is disgusting and I will never get what the big deal is about it. Too salty, gross texture, yuck. Skip the eggs and just eat the biscuits and creme fraiche.

I always thought it would be cool to get comped in Vegas, but I am not on their radar. I am a full comp at the Tulalip Casino north of Seattle though!

It isn't as glamorous as it sounds. They are basically coupons that they give you....at least that is what the poker comps are. If you go to the buffet, you do get to skip the line, which is really nice. There is no line-skipping at Le Cirque.

We were once in line at the buffet and the guy right in front of us was Rene Angelil, Celene Dion's husband/agent. He had to wait in the same line as all the other poker players.

I imagine if you are some whale that comes into town, they will do special stuff for you. But the majority of "comps" are nothing more than paper vouchers.

I will once again recommend Del Friscos Double Eagle Steakhouse. Expensive, but still stands as the best steak I have eaten. Expensive, but very very good.

We are going to try and go to Del Friscos on Friday (assuming I can get a reservation today) and then go check out the Freemont St. Experience.

Then Saturday I am paying my bet back to DH by taking him to the Wynn buffet, and my wife wasn't into Le Cirque, she gave no reason but it is her birthday, so we are going to Picasso in the Bellagio.

Sunday will be a brunch somewhere (still up for a good recommendation) and dinner at the Carnegie Deli.

For sunday brunch, I would suggest Rosemary's Restaurant. It is off the strip (do you have transportation?) but it is well worth it.

I'm thinking of eating "oriental" again I'm assuming there must e a number of good sushi places in VEG. Any recommendations?

I'm also pondering attending the Mayweather- Cotto fight, just to witness the Vegas big fight spectacle. However, the fact I don't care much for boxing (or MMA), and the nosebleed seats are $350 are dampening my enthusiasm.

I would recommend Yama sushi. It is all-you-can-eat ($29 for dinner, i believe). Thursday night is the best night to go, as they get their weekend fish delivery on Thursday afternoon.

Cool. Bring Mrs nuts, falafel, and his wife downtown tonight. Dinner is on me.
