  • Is there any way to clean walls

with matte paint other than repainting?

From a design perspective, the matte paint looks so nice, but having a busy 3 year old who has put on my lipstick and kissed the entire downstairs hallway walls and then added purple marker to the mix, I'm wishing we had semigloss everywhere and not just in the kitchen and bathrooms.

Is there anything I can do to clean my flat paint walls?

oooh. I'd be pissed! When we painted our house, we chose a satin paint because it will wipe clean like a semi gloss.

Before we began, I vacuumed all the walls with our shop vac. Then I had 2 buckets of water, one was just water but the other had some bleach. Since you aren't repainting, I suggest you just use a mild detergent instead. I started from the bottom and worked my way to the ceiling using a sponge. That got old so I bought a mop LOL. Wash carefully thought because I have heard that matte paint can be a pita and sometimes wash off. So, hopefully you have some extra paint on hand just in case! Once you've washed the walls, take another clean sponge and the clean water and kinda "rinse" the cleaner off the walls. Hope this makes sense. I did this 2 years ago and hope to never do it again!

wuapinmon is correct. (No, I've never said that before.) magic erasers are your best bet, though I'm guessing you'll be disappointed with anything short of repainting.

us, too. This house had been completely repainted in flat white when we moved in. I had all of it repainted within the week. flat + kids = disaster.

My inner goatnapper says flat ≠ kids.
