  • nail gun = true power

I built a 50' run of fence over the last couple of weekends. In doing so I was able to bust out my favorite tool: an air nailer that drives up to 3.5 inch full size round head nails. Few things feel so good as driving a 3.5 inch nail through wood like it is a hot knife though butter. Very cool.

I hate doing any sort of activity that takes a lot of hand driving nails. It takes a certain amount of skill and experience to get good at swinging a hammer efficiently and then you have to do it frequently to maintain the necessary muscle memory. It's a hassle. On the contrary, it takes about five trigger pulls to get good with a nail gun and so long as you are smart with it you'll come away with fewer injuries.

what kind of gun did you use, a coil or an angled?

Knock it off. This board has enough problems without a dose of middle-age lechery.

Angled nailer. I bought the gun about 2 years ago when I was building another fence. It was in July and it was over 100 degrees each day I was out there. Once the posts were set I started swinging a hammer and, after about three nails I drove to Home Depot and bought the nailer. It was like a revelation.
