  • I really hope Anae moves on

    I really do.

I know many BYU fans will say..."But how can you complain with 3 straight double digit winning seasons."

Look...this buffoon has failed to adjust in almost every important game we've played.

I know for a fact there is a rift between him and the other offensive coaches, most notably, Lance Reynolds, because he will not use the information that they send him from the booth and what they're seeing from the birdseye view.

The power running game was going great last night. Utah's front 4 got exposed last night and we were avg 7+ yards a pop in the running game.

It was clear that Hall had lost his poise and composure...and so what does Anae do...he keeps on throwing him into the wolves with his damned..."We don't care if you know what's coming,,,we'll just out execute you" mantra.

Had we stuck with the running game ala say...like the 1996 game...I truly believe we'd have won last night. Just like we had no answer for their short passing game, they had no answer for our power running game.

And then when we're down by 17 with 9 min to go...the time where going to a 2 min hurry up offense is important...he starts going back to the power rushing attack......What the hell?

It's time for Anae to move on.

Put Reynolds in at OC, with the understanding that Doman is the OC in waiting.

    I'm sick of Anae.

Sad, but I agree. I didn't get it, still don't. 3rd and 4 and we pass. I can't remember being this pissed about the play calling since the 2005. I am not sure what he was trying to prove but he was pretty unsuccessful at it.

At the same time the defense, which was doing enough to win last night, certainly could have used the help by running the ball.

I must also agree here. I do feel somewhat weird thinking so ill of a guy who has been largely successful during his time here, but I'd like to think that the offensive talent that we can recruit is good enough to make most any OC look good.

Anae refuses to run screens when his QB is getting teed off on, he refuses to stick with the running game when it's working, and he almost always refuses the tiniest bit of creativity (yesterday's first half being somewhat of an exception).

I've come to think that the mantra of out-executing everyone even when they know it's coming is just an excuse for Anae's lack of creativity or maybe even laziness. Confidence in a scheme is virtually indistinguishable from an inability to prepare for individual opponents or to make adjustments in a game.

BYU has ran the ball exactly 0 times this year on 3 and 3 or longer.

You sound like the Ute fans who want to run Ludwig out.

And they can thank this statistic for their absolutely crappy 3rd down conversion percentage.

from the press conference after, it sounded like Whit was daring Anae to run the ball (playing more of a pass defence) daring Anae to stay disciplined and run it more.

I wholeheartedly agree. For example, a respected Cougar fan recently pointed out that BYU has run the ball exactly 0 times this year on 3 and 3 or longer. I feel pretty safe disregarding this particular statistic in light of the fact that there is exactly 1 team in the entire country better at converting on 3rd down.

I wasn't aware of this rift in the offensive staff. What are the chances that this actually happens? Just wishful thinking?
At least the Big Ten went after a big-time addition in Nebraska; the Pac-10 wanted a game so badly, it added Utah
