  • Why I wish I could get Jeromy in SLC to Post here

So far I have been unsuccessful at stopping the lurking, and starting the posting. So I will just paste some of his better stuff in this thread.

This one was from Utezone a few days ago

First off, everyone needs to give full credit to Boise State. They are a seasoned, vetern team that plays hard and focused in nearly every situation. They took the Utes best punch, recovered, and started to do what they do. Watching the game, they never panicked, even after the defense forced two first quarter turnovers, and stopped them from getting a first down until their third drive.

I believe the staff had a good initial gameplan, and the team came out fired up. But, the mistakes kept them from capitalizing on the momentum and good field position that the Utes enjoyed in the first half. And to the youth on the coaching staff, while they had a good initial plan, Boise made better adjustments as the game progressed.

But again, the game gave me hope. I once counted only 14 seniors in the two deep roster. And while some of the graduation losses will be difficult to replace (Caleb and Zane particularly), there are a lot of good young players that got a lot of experience this year. There are places that need to be upgraded on the roster moving to the PAC-12, but I have watched recruiting improve yearly since Kyle took over. I don't see that trend changing.

The fact is, no matter how bad we as fans wanted it to happen, this team wasn't quite ready for prime time. The loss of many talented players to the NFL over the last two years left some experience voids. And observing CFB over the last few decades has caused me to put a premium on experience. Take an obviously talented guy like Reggie Dunn. He is electric when he has the ball in his hand. But, he has only been on campus and in the system since August. For most players, it takes time and experience to become great, regardless of their physical gifts.

The players that will become great are invested in this program and in their own futures. And I can see it happening. If you want to smile, take a look at the numbers of sophomores that logged major reps in games this year. Then, imagine them with two more spring ball sessions, two more off-season training sessions, and one more full season of games as they grow together into a cohesive unit. That is the sort of thing that makes me glad for the staff and program that I have inherited through my Alma Mater.

It is a good time to be a Ute. I am excited for the future.
The bolded paragraph, I thought, was spot on.
"The first thing I learned upon becoming a head coach after fifteen years as an assistant was the enormous difference between making a suggestion and making a decision."

"They talk about the economy this year. Hey, my hairline is in recession, my waistline is in inflation. Altogether, I'm in a depression."

"I like to bike. I could beat Lance Armstrong, only because he couldn't pass me if he was behind me."

I thought you were going to say it was because you empathized with his orthographically challenged moniker.

Is Jeromy always so optimistic? Cause I think the brilliance of the writing of my favorite ute posters is manifested after a tough loss. I'm thinking of you Senioritis. Posts expressing a clarity of thought only approached by Wuap hopped up on pain at three in the morning. Not the whining you get from BYU fans, mind you. Not the persecution complex from Provo. No, just a bald statement of "F Me and the Horse I rode in On." The completely vulnerable expression of doubt that Ute fans can't put very far behind them; combined with the lethal promise of devastation to be brought down upon anyone who should want to exploit that vulnerability.

I call him an optimistic realist. He has seen plenty of bad Utah football to appreciate the good, and have a reasonable view of where we are, where we have been, and where we can go.

Jarid, I know that you want to add my voice, but lacking anonymity changes things

Hi, I'm Jeromy in SLC, and I am an unadulterated Ute junkie. Seems as if my brother has been taking my posts and plagerizing....er....pasting them to this board.

Having been outed for whom I am in "real life", I don't enjoy the anonymity that others do, which makes me not at liberty to say the things that others would. People I know read this board, some of whom can have a direct impact on my life. That tempers the conversation to the mundane. That applies to other boards as well, which is why I don't post much anywhere.

I have received invitations by JIC and others to come post over here in the past. Frankly, posting is a waste of energy. Over the years, I had taken the time to craft reasonable, thoughtful posts. Most responses range in the "You bet", "I agree", or "Good post" category. I guess to stimulate any conversation, you have to go Cougjunkie on everyone and act like a poster child for court ordered Lithium prescriptions. But frankly, that isn't a real conversation.

Back in the day, when I had no family and was in the infancy of my career, this sort of stuff was what I did. Myboynoah once told me I was the most reasonable poster he knew. Gold star for me, I guess. Well, times change, and so have I. Reason in relation to the rivalry left my vocabulary sometime around Dubya's second term. My views on my team are unchanged, but the metamorphosis of the rivalry over the last decade have made things quite insane. I have attended games in Provo in 1993, 1995, 2001, 2003, 2005, and 2007. After my experience at the last two, I will never go there again.

So in short, hello, sort of. I do read this forum, but it may not be the proper audience for my views. And, I have to say, the BYU-USU football thread this year may have been the most I laughed in a long time. Maybe I need a new moniker, but that seems phony at this point.

And bro, I figured out the signature thing on the first try. NERDS RULE!
I am not as dumb as my brother thinks I am....or he is not as sly as he thinks he is. Take your pick.

Hello, Jeromy. I can't tell if we're supposed to say welcome or say we're sorry to see you go.

Both sort of. I may post here, but likely as infrequently as I do on other forums. Mostly, I had to respond to the badgering of my well-meaning twin

Given your superior engineering mind, I suspected that you would be much better at the computer thing than I.

It is interesting that you and I have crossed ways and changed places on the rivalry. The universe must require a yin-yang from the two of us to keep a hole forming in the time-space continuum that would swallow Provo and suck it off the face of the Earth.

PS: You should keep that signature that you deleted. It was pretty awesome.

Dude, stop posting my fantasies on the internet. Unless you are willing to come back to the dark side and make this happen.

I missed where you were outed. Being JiC's brother isn't that embarrassing. FWIW I have no idea who you are so your secrets are safe with me.
