  • How important is a sack?

Leave your Reams and Krogers jokes at the door.

I was listening to the NFL network while driving around on lunch and heard an interesting statistic.

The better NFL teams score on an average of 27% they get the ball (they didn't define better, or who they were). When the opponents get at least one sack at any point on a drive the scoring percentage drops to ......? Any guesses.

My guess is that it drops to a lower percentage.

What do I win for the correct answer?

      100%!
      Trick question.
At least the Big Ten went after a big-time addition in Nebraska; the Pac-10 wanted a game so badly, it added Utah

No way I was a Toys R' Us kid. I also take umbrage with your non-capitalized run-on spelling of my name.

            I'll say 5%.

This is one reason why I'm big on the Anae offense and wide splits. I think it has helped immensely with preventing sacks and holding calls.

Thank you Jay for taking my posts seriously, unlike some ^^^^

You were close the % drops to 7% if a single sack occurs at any point in the drive.

That's interesting. It certainly is a good argument for having wide splits. It is also an argument for two back sets where you can leave guys in to pass protect depending on the pre-snap read. Having an extra guy or two could make a huge difference apparently.

Very important. How else are you going to keep your testicles from falling on the ground?

I have to agree... immensely important.

I don't know if they would hang all the way to the ground or if they would just be painfully bounced around by thighs or knees... just the same... either way would be particularly unsightly with shorts.
