  • Utah QB situation

Where does Utah go from here? McCain is a senior, Wynn is inept. I'm guessing they go after a JC guy?

No. Hes seen some time this year. Kid is a stud too. I think he has at least two if not more years left. I was hoping to see him instead of Cain personally.

the biggest problem for Wynn is that he NEVER steps up in the pocket. On heaps td pass he made a great play stepping up in the pocket.

Wynn always rolls out backward and throws off his back foot. So he completes a pass that travels 20 yards but only gains 5 yard from scrimmage.

How do you know Robles is a stud? Sorry but I am from Spanish Fork and am a bit of a homer so anytime an SF guy is playing college ball I support them. But Robles was unable to beat out Jordan Wynn who clearly lacks skills to be a D-1 quarterback. Do you think he is a stud because he broke a 50 yard run against New Mexico? Ryan Folson and David Foote the two worst players in D-1 history did that for BYU.

Or is he a stud because he is 0-1 passing in his career? He is Utahs third leading rusher this year (130 yards yikes).

He might turn out to be great but right now he is total unknown commodity.

Take it easy on Wynn. What's his record as a starter? Sure he has struggled this year, but the results speak for themselves. To say he isn't a D-1 QB is ridiculous.

PS - I agree Heaps is better.

You are right, in fact I will say this he has D-1 skills, good arm strength, fairly accurate, good feet, etc. However he is not mentally there he makes bad reads, he is completely immobile yet runs a spread offense, total head case, lacks toughness, and can not hit on the deep ball. If BJ can fix a few of these problems Wynn will be serviceable in the pac-12.

I won't say that Wynn isn't a D-1 q.b. but I will say he isn't good enough to be a starter in the Pac-12. I personally think Wynn is awful and poorly coached. He can't step up in the pocket to save his life. When he feels any type of pressure he rolls out. He can't throw on the run. He isn't athletic, see the way he sacked himself on the first drive and his soccer dive in the first half as just some of the examples. He is poorly coached. Brian Johnson is not a D-1 quarterback coach yet. Jordan Wynn hasn't made any strides towards getting better this year. he is actually getting worse from week to week.

Serious question, what makes you think Brian Johnson will ever be a "D-1 quarterback coach?"

Wynn is scared to get hit. That, IMO, is why he has struggled. If his first option isn't there almost immediately, he panics because he doesn't want to stay in the pocket and risk taking a hit and then he makes poor throws.

I don't know if a kid can be taught to suck it up, but that would be where to start.

I think he will learn from his mistakes. I also think that Whit will send him to work with many good q.b. coaches out there during the off season that will be able to school Brian. At least I hope he sends him to work with some of these coaches. It happens a lot in the coaching world. Brian needs it.
