  • If PAC10 forces Ute name change

Let's think of some better names for the Utah Utes of Utah.

We know the Hawks is up for consideration by the milieu.

    What else?

    The Utah Zionists
    The Utah Oncologists
    The Utah Snowhawks
    The Utah Brine Shrimp
    The Utah Apostles
    The Utah Nephites
    The Utah Lamanites
The Utah Ishmaelites (Nevermind, no one cares about this one anyway)
    The Utah Cougar Slayers
The Utah Mormons (this team would not do well out-of-state)
    The Utah Red
    The Utah Red Wave
    The Utah Red Flood
    The Utah Scarlet Letters
    The Utah Blood Tigers
    The Utah Blood Donors
    The Utah Red Cross
    The Utah Temple Masons
    The Utah Cottonwoods
    The Utah Sand Pounders
    The Utah Gadianton Robbers
    The Utah Walkin' Wounded
    The Utah Red Badges
    The Utah Red Cougars
    The Utah Harts
The Utah Red Harts (popular during Valentines and hunting season, which are sort of the same thing in Utah--men looking for white (and delightsome) tail)
    The Utah Jolly Bridegrooms
The Utah NetWares (grooving on the red theme)
    The Utah Youngs
    The Utah Brighams
    The Utah Snowbirds
    The Utah Altas
    The Utah Canyoneers
    The Utah Thiokols
    The Utah Downwinders
    The Utah Not All Mormons

As I am a first-class shit talker, I figured I'd fit right in in the Stadium.

I'm fairly confident the PAC-10 will never ask the university to drop the "Utes" nickname.

That said, if they ever did, I hope Chris Hill and Michael Young show some balls and decline to pick a replacement nickname. Use the block U or interlocking U's as the logo and be known as "University of Utah" or "Utah". Keep Swoop as a mascot if you'd like, or replace him with a guy dressed in a red U. Make it super-campy.

Stanfurd followed that path. Having toyed with using "The Tree", and the student body opting for "The Robber Barons", Stanfurd settled on "The Cardinal", whatever that is, and their mascot is essentially a paint chip.

You are just upset because of the cultural shifting of the the generally accepted definition for "cougar".

Especially, as it has been tied to a religious institution.

Although I suppose that a financially secure, middle-aged single LDS woman could be a "chaste cougar".

                              You need more imagination, man.
