        That was a good read.

        My favorite line:

Bergstrom, who was recruited by both schools, visited a BYU practice. "It was really laid-back," he recalls. "Then I came up here. This was 2004, before I went on my mission. I'd never seen a team practice with so much intensity. Coach Meyer was all over the place, pumping guys up, dropping f bombs. I was blown away. I remember thinking, I want to be a part of this."
        Shocker.

Note to Bronco, regarding holding effective practices:

Mote in the eye = 'dropping f bombs'

Beam in the eye (which is overlooked)= ...practice 'was really laid-back'

And while I am on the topic, using the words 'fetch', 'frick', 'fudge' in place of the REAL "F" word = identical in context and intent. If you are going to use ANY of these words, either use the proper one or none at all.

The term, 'The Lord's University' = breaking the 3rd commandment (Deuteronomy 5:11).

Oh so Bronco was running the practices in 2004? Great insight...

I think you might be on the wrong board.

Mote in the eye = use of expletive alternatives

Beam in the eye = criticizing others for their use of expletive alternatives

Now that is fucking bullshit right there. (note: completely TIC. -- I work hard to keep my language from being too salty. It is amazing how adept a 4 year-old is at repeating the 'naughty' words they may have heard once before...)

There is a precise time and place for the use of expletives. There is a time and a place for everything. Motivating college kids to play football may be one of them.

Using them ALL the time, in all communication, however, shows a complete lack of creativity.

And I stand by my original comment. Playing Ultimate Frisbee or Touch Football in practice at the D-1 level leads to poor performance on the field. It takes a certain amount of intensity (with or without expletives) to get the kids in shape or to do what you want.

Furthermore, the use of 'alternative swear words that sound somewhat like the real deal' produce the same feelings in the speaker AND in the listener as the real words. The intent is exactly the same. The speaker has committed the use of a swear word in his heart, but looks like a buffoon for having used it.

It always comes down to the head coach (yes I know Crowton was the HC then). However it is somewhat well-known that practice under Bronco is not as intense as it likely should be.

You have some creative mind to think you can argue that 'Fuck' has the same effect on speaker and listener as 'fetch.' ... and that the intent is the same.

                            Again-- air-tight. Air-fetching-tight.

Ouch. Can you please lay off the language that offends people's sensibilities?

Also, you look like a buffoon, FWIW.
