  • Sad day for Ute fans

You lost one of your best recently.

    http://www.sunad.com/index.php?tier=1&article_id=15257

Here is a D-News article on Marston and his passion for the Utes.
    http://deseretnews.com/article/1,514...8,00.html?pg=1

The quote by his daughter at the end of the article is something I think we can all appreciate.

"We have built relationships with these people that transcend football and make it more than just a game," said Wyatt. "It's personal."
One thing that I've noticed about me as I've gotten older. When I was young, I would hole myself up in the basement to watch games. I didn't like my mom or sister to interrupt. But as I found friends that liked the same teams, I would always want to watch with them. Now, I don't really enjoy watching a game by myself. Whether I'm watching a game with friends or following it with CB/CG/CUF, I like the interaction with people. It becomes less about the game and more about the shared experience, either joy or agony. I think the rival interaction is what makes this board kind of unique. Secretly, when the Utes win, I'm happy for my Ute friends. I'm not happy the Utes won, but I'm kind of glad someone I care for is. I haven't gotten to that point with the Lakers, but someday I may.

    Thanks for that link, YO.

And well said about watching games with friends and family. I believe you're correct about the rivalry aspect on this board. Wins and losses really aren't that important if there is no connection to someone who is happy or sad after a game.

      Well said, buddy.

Don't worry. As God is my witness, this will never be the CougarUteLakerForum. Ecumenical outreach has its limits.

As an act of good faith, could you get rid of that Lakers thread in the pro sports category?

Harold was a great man. Thanks for sharing Y. I hadn't heard about this yet.

Harold lived and died Utah football. One of the biggest and best Ute fans I have ever come across. He will be missed.

Rot in hell, Marston, right along side the rest of your Ute buddies.

Prepare to put mustard on those words, for you will soon be consuming them, along with this slice of humble pie that comes direct from the oven of shame set at gas mark “egg on your face”! -- Moss

There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, and everything else is cream cheese. --Coach Finstock
