Can anyone explain the Friends feature on this board? On CB, of course, one can make Friends Only posts. But what, if anything, does Friends status provide on CUF? Until recently, my only Friend was Tom Shane; now that I have more than that I'm curious what to do about it.

What does "Friend" mean?

I have no idea what role friends play in the big CUF universe, but I have several official friends, and I choose them carefully. Each of my friends is beloved for a specific personal reason, and their official friend status is a token of my admiration.
But there is one person on the board, who will remain unnamed, who did shun my friendship request thrice! He knows who he is, and he is dead to me.

I recommend stopping the video before he tries to hit the high notes. ouch!

I had no idea ladies lobby is that powerful here before looking at your and Soccermom's profile. Impressive.Originally posted by beelzebabette View PostI always assumed it was like flair on Facebook. PAC, I looked at the documentation over at vbulletin.com, and it appears that the friendslist feature exists for the purpose of listing friends.
Now you ask whether this isn't circular. Well, in a really large forum (you have to keep in mind this software is used for forums with thousands of members), the idea is that it's useful to have the people you mail most often listed there on your own page. I imagine that in later versions they'll extend the functionality associated with the "friend" feature. Right now it's underwhelming at best.
But of course the most common use of a "friending" feature is to see who can get the most friends, and in that sense this serves the purpose.

Double thanks, for both the information I sought, as well as the trip down memory lane with the execrable Bobby Vinton number. The latter reminded me of an early '60s Christmas when my sister got his "Greatest Hits" album (yes, there really was one; imagine the fun the producers had trying to generate the playlist) and we were treated to "Mr. Lonely" throughout the remainder of Christmas day. No wonder suicide rates were up on Christmas that year.Originally posted by Babs View PostPAC, I looked at the documentation over at vbulletin.com, and it appears that the friendslist feature exists for the purpose of listing friends.
