  • Sexual predators in high places

I just had lunch w/ a friend who was sexually assaulted by one of the biggest names in broadcast news about six weeks ago. He's one of the most respected names in the world of public discourse and he groped her "in the most demeaning way possible."

    She's no prude, mind you.

He did this while there was an unfinalized job agreement on the table for her with a fat six figure salary, and an executive title on his show so his crude maneuver was implicitly a "here's how we seal the deal darling" kind of thing.

After she ran out on him without letting him have what he wanted the last message she got was a voicemail explaining that he'd need to "take some time" to think about whether she was the right one for the job.

In checking background now she's found multiple women who were assaulted by him in the past several years and he has allegedly "slept with" the majority of the women who have worked for him, but all are afraid of him.

She's currently contemplating her next move after having spent some time recovering from the trauma. I'm advising her to go to the police ASAP and make it a criminal matter that will force the other women to come forward as witnesses.

    Any thoughts?

This guy is a world class dick that needs to be taken down. You all know his name. However she breaks it, it will not be a small story.

Bill O'Reilly can't get away with this forever.

If it wasn't for the words "broadcast news" I would be wondering if Letterman was at it again.

I'm with you. File a report with the police and bring this predator down.

Hah yeah - you can cross that one off your list.

        It's not one you'd think.

Keith Olberman is pretty high up on my list of who I would suspect.
Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

I guess that doesn't mean Olberman.

So I'm wondering if its Andersoon Cooper, that's not one I'd think of. Or Brian Williams.

It had better not be Bruce Lindsay.

Nadine, why didn't you tell me?

Chris Hansen - I don't trust that guy.

"One of the most respected names in public discourse."

This crosses off all of the main Fox guys with the exception of Chris Wallace.

NBC: Brian Williams (Tom Brokaw still comes around sometimes)

ABC: ? Ted Koppel doesn't work for them anymore.

                    CBS: Steve Croft, Morley Safer

                    CNN: Anderson Cooper

MSNBC: Chris Matthews (is he one of the most respected voices?)

I should qualify "broadcast news" he's not a 6:00 news anchor type. But among the Beltway crowd he's bigger than any of them.

I think I have it narrowed down to 2-3 people, with one I'm suspecting much more than the other two. Don't worry, I won't mention any names.

Can't be Shepard Smith since he is batting for the other team.

Then we should also remove Anderson Cooper from consideration.
