By conning an illegal Nicaraguan housekeeper to come forward against Meg Whitman, she's exposed the housekeeper to Federal felony charges. Never mind that after shining a tiny bit of light on the issue, it's evident that Whitman didn't break any laws - she fired the woman as soon as she found out her documents were fakes. But the faked documents mean she's going to have ICE after her - deportation is the best she can hope for. Jail time is a real possibility.

I've never dealt with an ethics violation, a malpractice lawsuit or even a bar complaint, but I imagine needlessly exposing your client to criminal charges and/or deportation is probably at least an offense worthy of some kind of judgment for malpractice. I don't think malpractice necessarily means trouble with the bar.

Now, if Gloria Allred has received any compensation from the Brown campaign in any fashion that would probably mean more serious trouble. Right now she's guilty of just being really stupid and a political hack. The housekeeper is almost as dumb for going to Gloria Allred in the first place.

I don't like any of them. Allred is annoying. Whitman would be a horrible govenor, at least for my financial wellbeing. Brown is an idiot and was a bad govenor the first time around. CA politics are a joke. I seriously have to choose between Fiorini and Boxer. That is the best they can do? What a joke.

Has it been reported anywhere that Allred is not doing exactly what the client wants? The client supposedly dislikes Whitman. Perhaps she has concluded that the greater good of preventing a Whitman victory is worth the personal risk of deportation. I would be quite surprised if Allred's file doesn't include some writings documenting something along these lines.
