Bronco to make football a low priority at University of Minnesota?

What's with all the chatter on CB re: the Gophers making a play at Bronco? Has anyone else heard or read anything about this other than on CB?

While I think he is a great coach, this seems to be a strange time for anyone to make a run at Mendenhall.

I don't see Bronco leaving until his calling and election is made sure. I assume that happens with an undefeated season, but being a Utah fan I'm a little hazy on those details.

For Bronco's sake, I think he could use a break from Happy Valley and GA-speak. That being said, I don't think he could be nearly as effective elsewhere (in part due to his use of GA-speak).

Why not? As has been noted on CB, Bronco was an effective coach at UNM and a host of other schools before coming to BYU. I think he learned what BYU admins and BYU fans want to hear and adapted his speech accordingly.

Leach seems a better fit then Bronco. He would bring a passing attack that nobody else is doing in the Big 10. He may be a pain in the ass to deal with but at least they may start winning.

I guarantee you if he got the big bucks and went to another University, Bronco speak would be quite different.

I really don't know him well enough to know whether he would leave for a shot at reaching his full potential career wise or he truly thinks career is a lower priority and is so happy with the situation he has at BYU that he wouldn't consider a move.

Absolutely. His players, coaches, administrators and boosters all operate under a different paradigm than most other universities.

Bronco's done well at BYU, especially considering everything foisted upon him by the BYU administration/culture. He would continue to do well at a university where he could completely assemble his own staff and have to meet only the average player conduct codes.

With a name like Bronco and looking at his brother I'm guessing their is a whole other persona just screaming to come out. I think I would like a crazy screaming Bronco more than I do the fireside Bronco.

I think I would too, but to be honest I am one of those fans Bronco is dissapointed in as I have never been to a fireside. We were going to make the one in Washington until we found out we could get tickets to the Mariners/yankee game. It was comforting to see so many BYU fans there and know I wasn't the only fan who is headed for a lesser kingdom.
