  • Our bishop put the smack down on Facebook........

On Sunday he gave a pretty heated lecture on facebook. I guess a few of the ladies in the ward were posting their displeasure with the nursery leaders via facebook updates. Well half the ward are friends with one another. The nursery leader found out about it and it obviously hurt her feelings. The lady that posted it was talking about how they are never there and that its hard for her kid to attend nursery when she has a new teacher every week. What she didnt know was that the nursery leaders little boy has serious health problems and they have been spending a lot of time in the hospital. Her status was commented on by about 10 other people all agreeing with her and a few were in our ward. Two of the people that agreed and said they have noticed the same thing are in the class that my wife and I teach.

The ironic part is the two that agreed with her both asked to have their kids put in our class, pulling them from teachers they have had for over a year so that their kids can start in the snack room (we have 6 different nursery classes that we rotate through every 20 minutes, snack, toys, lesson, music, 2nd toy room). After the nursery leader found out she asked to be released, then even after the Bishop laid the smack down the 3 biggest whiners were posting updates on their face book pages saying stuff like:

"Its amazing how much stir a little status update causes, lol!"
"Wow, talk about much ado about nothing."
"If you do your job correctly then you wont get your feelings hurt."

Glad to see they listened to the Bishop.

    Wow.

Perhaps you could post something about each one of these women that they'd rather not like known. See if their attitude changes.

I love the compassion shown by the lady who made this comment.

She isn't doing her job "correctly" because she's been spending a lot of time in the hospital with her sick child and this is the response. Wow.

            Seriously. Unbelievably inconsiderate.

I can't hang out with women like the ones Surfah is describing. I don't like all that petty crap either. I hosted a dinner at my home one evening for other women. They started gossiping about a lady in our ward who is really attractive but going through a hell of an experience right now. This lady is really bubbly and new to the area. One lady said how proud she was that she took the lady down a notch by not being friendly to her right away. I mean, how dare she come to a new ward and fit in right away.

                  Totally!

That evening sure explained the crappy reception I got in my new ward though. I am a fairly outgoing person, and I got the cold shoulder for several months.

You really do live in a Utah ward transplanted to CA as a whole don't you?

Is there a "rolling the eyes" emoticon?

This has nothing to do with Utah wards. It doesn't even have much to do with Mormonism. It has everything to do with human nature and insecurity, as we all derive a little secret pleasure from bringing others down to our level.

Sorry--I know you're joking, but people who move to Utah (or anywhere, for that matter) and then constantly complain about it (the restaurants, the wards, etc) just touch a nerve with me.
At least the Big Ten went after a big-time addition in Nebraska; the Pac-10 wanted a game so badly, it added Utah

If you knew me better you'd know that I have bashed Utah WAY LESS since I moved here than I did before. And Soccermom is the the native Utahn who calls her ward a Utah ward ... not me.

As I have said before, regardless of where you live, if you do not know what a Utah Mormon is, there is a good chance you are one ...

I see you're still using "Utah" as a pejorative adjective. Yeah, I don't see why anyone would have a problem with that.

Let us know when she gets her come-uppance as one of her ward friends calls her on complaining about the inconvenience of her child's nursery leader having to deal with personal tragedy in front of all her non-ward friends as well.

Have these women never seen the bus scene on Mean Girls?

Oh, you remember how it is -- the new girl in school is a threat and must be treated accordingly!
