  • too many threads

Let's establish up-front that I'm a geek with comically serious and rigid rules that mostly have no rhyme or reason.

One of them is thread conservation. I'd rather scan through 2 pages of "independent groundswell" thread than click on four different threads that talk about BYU's independence, for example. And I love the idea of having one dedicated thread for a game (or team, depending on its popularity here). I hate seeing threads about a specific article or specific idea, especially because chances are good it fits well (and belongs) with another thread.

Y'all keep doing what you're doing, but I had to get this out.

Did this really need its own thread?
Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.

too many dreads - a breakdown of Coker College's "Reggae, Rastafari, and Robert Nesta Marley" course
too many breads - any advice on managing a Great Harvest franchise?
too many treads - what rubber is on your car?

It doesn't have quite the same effect when you put all this crap in one thread.

Also, I foresee a cage match between you and Space Ghost.

Maybe he was talking about this discussion getting out of hand:

          http://www.cougaruteforum.com/showthread.php?t=13853

except he is one of the main contributors.

He really should have put the comments there.

I disagree. It's a pain when all the posts are in one thread and you have to use several clicks and scrolling to figure out where you left off last in the thread to read new posts. Especially if you're on your phone. Another thing is the thread subject may look uninteresting and you never read, but then finally notice after the thread stays alive for several days that it took a different angle that became interesting. i.e. Utah sports into BYU sports or a religion subject that turns into something I'm interested in.

For a minute I thought this was going to be about DonutHole's wardrobe.

On the topic at hand, I disagree. Gigantic threads about a million different things are a much bigger PITA than many smaller threads that stay on topic.'

Agree with ya, BO. For some reason there are a number of posters that have to start a new thread every time they want to say something, despite the fact that the same exact topic is already being discussed elsewhere. I thought what everyone liked about the format of this board versus CB is that you could have one thread dedicated to a topic instead of a million discussions going on all over the place?

Doesn't necessarily bother me, I just wonder why people feel the need to do it.

I think the biggest advantage of the board is that the threads posted to most recently show up, not just new threads. In other words CB doesn't have a way to bump threads and it is a big shortcoming. You HAVE to start a new thread there to be heard.
