  • BSU vs. Virginia Tech ESPN ratings

According to ESPN, Monday night's game was the network's most viewed college football game ever in terms of households, and its 7.3 rating was the highest rating for a college football game in 16 years as almost 9.9 million viewers tuned into the telecast. Only USC's game at Ohio State in 2009, which averaged almost 10.57 million viewers, has ever attracted more people to an ESPN college football telecast.
It looks like BSU is well on its way to building a national, not just a regional, CFB brand. I wonder if that brand will degrade when they move to the MWC and a mtn. level of TV coverage.

Last year there was a similar game on espn (labor day, two highly ranked teams, only game in times slot, a prime time slot).

Anyone know the rating on that game?

I don't think you really wonder if the brand will degrade.

Last years game on Labor Day was Miami vs. Florida St. I have no clue what the ratings were.

Thanks. Those two teams were not nearly as high ranked as 3 and 10. It drew 8.4m viewers,

I would have to think that a game between two top ten teams on opening weekend in the slot that will be Monday Night Football starting next week is tough to draw to many conclusions or inferences about.

agreed, it's great for BSU, but I don't think we can make any conclusive judgments about what this could mean.

Knock it off. This board has enough problems without a dose of middle-age lechery.

                Exactly,

I think you can get more out of the facts that they 1, were ranked 3 to start the season and 2, they were apart of that game.

Well, because he thought it was good sport. Because some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.
