  • Advise: Garage Sensors

So my Garage Doors will not open from the remote. But they will open from the wall buttons. However I have to hold the button down the whole time to get the doors to shut completely. I am assuming this is the sensors that is causing this.

So one side is showing green while the other is red. And when I moved it it began to flash red but never went green. Am I doing it wrong??

    Any advise would be appreciated..

Try cleaing the lenses on the sensors. After that is completed, align and reposition the sensors. Both sensors need to read green in order for the door to work properly. Most likely senario is one of the sensors got bumped and just needs to be aligned.

The sensor may have been bumped (i.e. the metal bracket is bent) or there is something blocking the lens. Try making sure the lens on both sides is clean and they both are aiming at each other. If that does work try unwiring them from the back of the garage door motor box.

          Thanks!!

The doors work fine now. I no longer need to hold the button down. Although one of my remotes does not work at all so now I need to go and get a replacement one, and figure out the code to sync them...

Depending on the age and model of your door, you may just need to open the back of the opener and push and hold a red or purple button. A light will flash and then press the remote and it should sync itself
