I believe Heaps and Nelson had equal series. Heaps throws a beautiful ball and is running our normal offense. Nelson throws a duck and is running something that looks like Gary Crowton invented it. That said, where it counts I have to go with Nelson. Both had two scoring drives. Nelson scored two TDs and a two point conversion. Jake scored two field goals. The two QB system should make Jake comfortable more quickly and that's where the staff wants to be but Nelson will win us more games in the short run. I have no doubt that we would lose that game if Heaps was our fulltime QB.

I thought the play calling for Heaps was a little conservative. I'm guessing if they had let him he may have been able to hit a receiver on a short route for a score.

Nelson is just Nelson. Even after one game no one in BYU land except maybe a few coaches know what to make of him.

I liked the 2 QB systeme for a lot of the reasons you mentioned.

By the end of the season, however, I think they will have a solitary QB.
