  • Congratulations BYU!

J.J. Looks like he might just almost make up for the loss of Harvey and I am astonished at how well the 2QB system worked. Defense was solid as predicted.

But now let's get to what we all want to:

Which team had the more impressive win?

EDIT: Oops, I meant between Utah and BYU. Never too soon for sibling rivalry.

Congrats to the board BYu fans. Good win against a solid opponent.

I would have to go with the U, because of the ranking of their opponant. Of course we will have to see how the season plays out to see for sure

I agree, however, with the sentiment of this thread. Congrats on beating U-Dub and the all-everything Jake Locker. Listening to the hype this week, you'd think that Tim Tebow wears a WWJLD wristband.

What I saw of the game, it seemed the 2QB system was managed well. It seemed like I saw Neilson in the game whenever BYU was moving the ball. Will there be mass BoM burnings if he is named the permanent starter?

DeLuigi was much more effective than I expected him to be as well.

            Congrats!

That's the problem with the first few weeks. For all we know Pitt will lose 7 games and UW will win the Pac-10. (Okay both of those are extremely unlikely but you get my point ... )

Utah beat a better team and did so by overcoming many uncharacteristic mistakes. BYU beat a worse team and needed the stupid mistakes UW made on special teams and the stupidest coaching call I have seen in some time. I think Pitt is a 35-50ish team and UW is a 50-75ish team.

I fully expect Pitt to do well in the Big East and they'll very likely be in a BCS bowl. Man, how the hell does that conference have an AQ spot?

Washington will be around .500. They'll beat a team in the Pac-10 they should lose to. But they'll also lose to some teams they should beat.

                  We'll see.

Way too early to tell. You'd have to give it to Utah at this point because they looked more dominant against a higher-ranked team.

                      BUT,
I'm not convinced Pitt's any good. Maybe that's Utah making them look bad. I also think Polk may be as good a back or better than Lewis, and as average as Locker looked, he's still a far cry better than Sunseri. Of course, maybe that's BYU making them look good.

So, it's too early to tell, but I'll give the early edge to Utah.
At least the Big Ten went after a big-time addition in Nebraska; the Pac-10 wanted a game so badly, it added Utah

I think BYU deserves props for a nice win with a young team and a whole new QB setup. Both BYU and Utah learned a lot about their strengths and weaknesses. (Utah learned that maybe Shaky Smithson ought to change his nickname, and BYU learned that UW's long snapper is their buddy.) In about 6 weeks we'll have a better idea about whether Pitt and UW were strong opponents.
