what impact does that have on the sports teams from a motivational standpoint, if any?

I was just thinking, does it matter much to win the last relevant MWC championship for either school? Or do the schools treat this final year like I treated the semester in college before my mission.

I was at that last WAC championship game when BYU lost to Air Force and it really, really, really, really, really sucked. I'd give quite a bit to be able to win the conference before ditching it. Of course I'm not on the team. Yet.
