This isn't perfect but it does at least convey a coherent message: [nomedia="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7wusgcG4rfo&hd=1"]YouTube- "Those Voices Don't Speak for the Rest of Us"[/nomedia]

So now the Republicans just need to find someone like Ronald Reagan.

They've been looking pretty hopeless to me lately (I'm neither Republican nor Democrat and feel that neither represents me very well right now.)

According to the polls, people are only a little less mad at the Republicans than they are at the Democrats, so you have a lot of company. I think it's sad that the Repubs have to go that far back to find someone who clearly expresses their core principles and doesn't have a ton of baggage (like Newt Gingrich).

Who will be the person the GOP (I) is looking for like Ronald Reagan. Right now I am not sure we have a person who fits that mold..

However, I do like Gov Christie of NJ, and Brown of Mass (But still not sold on him), and Romney.. I want someone who is fresh and new.. Not someone who has been in politics this whole time.. It is still a long ways away to see who comes into play in 2012...

Newt is also going a little wacko. I think he has hung out with Hannity too much. There are some republicans I really like. Pawlenty, Ryan and Cantor. I am liking Christie the more I hear about him. I just hope the guys I like don't start feeling like they have to cater to the talk show guys.

I would really respect one of those I mentioned saying, on this issue (some issue) Rush, Hannity, Beck are full of shit.

In terms of communicating a no-BS message, there is a lot to like about Chris Christie.

                Someone fresh and new.

Barack Obama was fresh and new.

Sarah Palin was fresh and new.

Are there no long-time Republicans that are any good? This looks so hopeless to me.

                  Please no fresh and new.

Ronald Reagan was hardly fresh and new. We've had plenty of fresh and new lately.

I'd take Jeb Bush and Hillary Clinton over fresh and new.

Obama wasn't "My" type of fresh and new.. Sarah Palin. My wife really really liked her.. But I wasn't completely sold on her. I like her but have mixed feelings.. McCain sucked and I think that made it hard for people to like Pain as much...

The only credible Republicans (guys with real experience, background and credibility) seem to be:
                      Romney
                      Pawlenty
Palin (oh, please, oh please, don't run, Sarah)
Christie (still untested on the national stage)
Mitch Daniels (still says he is not interested)
George Allen (if he tries to come back but it's probably too late for that)
Huckabee (kind of, although he will be nothing more than a spoiler if he runs)
George Pataki (probably too liberal to get nominated)

All in all not really an exciting list so far.

I saw an interview of Pawlenty last night. He could be a serviceable candidate. I think Romney's health care baggage will be too much to overcome. Palin will run and she will fail.

Christie is a right time and place guy, I think the GOP primary voters would fall in love with this guy. In a normal election, he wouldn't be deemed to have enough experience. But he'd be running against an incumbent president who previous to entering the office was a senator for four years and spent two of the those years running for president. Christie's accomplishments as governor of New Jersey already dwarf what Obama accomplished four years as Senator.

I've heard that Mitch Daniels is kind of boring. But he has the right kind of experience and track record to be an appealing candidate. I just wish Christie had a couple more years of experience because he is not a boring candidate.

The historical precedent of the GOP seems to be to nominate the next guy in line. That would mean Romney. But I don't think that will be happening because Romney is going to get hammered on the Massachusets health care bill.

I really think it will be Pawlenty or Christie. There's a strong chance that both will be on the ticket. Christie would be a great running mate.

I favor some Pres./VP combo of Pawlenty, Christie, or Daniels. Throw in Paul Ryan or Romney as possible VP candidates for good measure although I don't think either of them could be Pres.

I think Romney would be a good Pres.; however, I don't think he can win because of his religion so I don't support him.

Like LA Ute, I desperately hope that Palin won't run and while I don't hate her, I can't understand why so many people are infatuated with her. The left have only themselves to blame for her popularity - she is their creation (if you don't understand what I mean by this, take it up with me in another thread).

I don't like Huckabee mainly for the same reason I don't like Romney (his religion will not allow him to win) although I also don't think he would be as good an executive as Romney.

A Pawlenty/Daniels ticket is a bit of a snoozefest, but boring competency could be a prized virtue in 2012.
