i didn't realize there was anything going on, but a journalist at the SLTrib wrote this little piece indicating that the DNews is being "revitalized".

    http://www.sltrib.com/sltrib/blogs/c...staff.html.csp

    Anyone know anything about this?

i never have gotten real news from the DNews, but their sports coverage of the Utes lately has been better than the SLTrib. I hope they keep their sports coverage up, but this business of it being a positive spin machine and a positive spin maching for the LDS church isn't suprising at all.

Great article in today's D-News about how an Orthodox Jewish bride couldn't find modest bridesmaid dresses until she found a website for Mormon brides.

Landau had just come across the Utah company known for servicing members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. As Landau skimmed through the options online, she was amazed that each of her qualifications were met.

"THIRTEEN pages of gorgeous, flattering dresses unfurled before me, and all had sleeves, high necklines, backs and hemlines that hit BELOW the knees every time. I was awe-struck," Landau wrote.

"It was so simple: Of course Mormons would have similar modesty standards. Of course they wanted to feel pretty. And, apparently, they didn’t want to pay more than $250 for a dress either."

The Oregonian Newspaper is cutting delivery down to Thurs-Sun, and laying off hundreds of people. Been in business more than 160 years.

My uncle wrote for the Oregonian for about 25 of those years. He got out about 5 years ago and now does oversight for chemical weapons disposal or something like that. Smart move I guess.
