  • Weight loss update

Because so many of you seem interested, or are at least feigning interest on my behalf.

I weighed in this morning, albeit on an empty stomach and after two hours of exercise, at 231.8.

To put that in perspective, I was approximately 250 on January 1.

18.2 pounds is not water loss or empty stomach or colon cleaning or any of those things. 18.2 pounds is real.

I decided when I made my goal that I'd tried diet to lose pounds, and I tried exercise to lose pounds, but I'd never put them together. This time I have.

My diet on a daily basis goes low-fat low-cal protein shake and fruit for breakfast, same for lunch, snack of some low-sodium V8 in the afternoon, then a sensible dinner. Daily calories must be under 2000.

I don't have tons of time for exercise, so I've been trying to do a little daily. Monday I ran 2 miles, Tuesday I played pick-up BBall for 3 hours, Wednesday I rested, Thursday I ran 2 miles, Friday I played VBall for 2 hours, today I played flag football for 2 hours.

The best thing is that I feel like running another couple of miles after I got done with the football. My energy is returning, and my joints are feeling better. That's after 20 pounds. I can't imagine what will happen when I get rid of the other 35.
Awesomeness now has a name. Let me introduce myself.

2008 was a difficult year for me. I stopped exercising - stopped caring - and intentionally wanted to be unattractive. Put on 32 lbs.

I decided I wanted it off simply because I felt gross everywhere I went, so since Jan 1 I've lost 14. 18 more to go. Exercise makes all of the difference. If you can find yourself on a treadmill for just 2 miles a day, it makes a world of difference.

Good work, Fiyero. I hope the endorphins help ease your mind.

I couldn't agree more. And props to you for getting right after things, instead of waiting a couple of years like I did.

Congrats. That's excellent. One thing though. For someone who states they do no have a ton of time for exercise where are you finding 2 and 3 hours to play sports. I'd have a hard time finding 20 minutes right now. I'm jealous.
