  • Poll:Do you want to see the Rivalry game continue?

I have seen too many posts stating that they want to see the rivalry game go away. This poll is not about when in the year, but whether it should continue.

Are you talking about Utah-BYU or Utah-Colorado?

I'm fine with a rivalry similar to Florida-Miami.

I don't care if they meet every year as long as BYU has an appealing schedule.

Sad premise, I know, but I have been surprised by the number of people(UFN, CB, CUF, Utah.Rivals) advocating dropping the game altogether.

9 conference games in Pac-10: Every other year

8 conference games in Pac-10: Play every year.

I'm ambivalent about discontinuing the rivalry. I'm against playing in 2011 in Provo as things stand. I'm certainly not against taking a year off.

Don't want to miss a year. Gotta make it work somehow, this should always be a priority from now on... in my opinion.

When is this decision going to be made? The 8 or 9 game Pac-12 conference games that is.

I have reached the point where I don't want it to be played anymore. The only reason I would want to see the rivalry continue at this point is if the future of CUF depended on it.

Why? Is it the "It has gotten out of hand" excuse?

I've been thinking more about this rationale. How do we absolutely know that the rivalry is more bitter now than 20 years ago? We don't. One thing I do know is how the media drums up the worst events and holds onto them for ratings.

When Max Hall spouted-off last year the media had a heyday. When Morgan Scalley (a man among boys) was captured in the locker room in 2004 (admittedly a different situation, with a soundbyte that was not as lengthy) the media didn't latch on. I think it was because the bigger ratings grabbing story was Utah busting the BCS.

Point is, there is no way to gauge the bitterness. And are some over-reacting to mount Maximus' eruption last year.

Take a break in 2011, but continue playing it every year afterwards. Perhaps move it to the opening weekend (a la CU-CSU and Miami-FSU).
